Spark plug socket

Hi mates,

I am looking to replace the spark plug socket that comes with the Ten.

Can anyone tell whether any of these will do the job?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/AK6557-Spark.../dp/B0016WLFGY

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...1&s=automotive

Thanks on advance.

Either of those looks OK.

However, if your bike's top hose and AIS gubbins is routed anything like mine, then the thing you've got to watch out for is the height of the plug socket. Anything much over about 70mm in height is going to be a very tight squeeze and neither of the above state how tall they are?

All I can say is I use a Halfords 10mm plug socket which I know fits. Nice quality, cost 4.99 and is 65mm tall. Clicky Here

BTW - I had to cut down the Yamaha box spanner to make it fit; it wouldn't even get close to going on as it was in the tool kit.

That is exactly my concern. The height. And yes, you are right, none of them state the height.

I thought a 16mm spark plug socket was needed. Havent even checled it, but that's what I have read on the forum. Will the one in link (10mm) work?

You mean trying to use the box spanner to take out the spark plug? I gave it a try with no luck. The Yamaha toolkit is total shame!

Thanks again for your reply mate.

Spark plug socket sizing is a bit confusing! Yes, it is a 16mm socket (to fit the flats on the plug), but it's for a 10mm plug (that's the plug's thread). So, yes, the one in the link is what you need.

Yes, a bit confusing. I will get one of them then.

Thanks

Got that one from Halfords. Taking the spark plug out now is a walk in the park. Thanks Pleiades.
