High beam problem
Got a new xtz and only done 700 miles and its had its first service last week. Chuffed to bits apart form one small problem, the high beam flashes on when I pull the clutch to change gear. seems that it's shorting within the controls. Just wandering if anyone has experienced this before? The bike is all under warranty so not too worried however its a bit concerning as I don't want to be flashing other road uses at junctions for obvious reasons. I will be taking it back to the dealers soon so it would help if I could give them some pointers or maybe it's a simple fix I could do myself? Any help much appreciated thanks.

The clutch switch sits under the perch, it isn't part of the left hand switch assembly. The wiring isn't common between either, they both run in separate sheaths to the main loom. There is unlikely to be a short in the controls, but of course there could be one further into the main loom?
Are you sure you aren't just catching the headlight flasher switch with your glove when pulling the clutch in? Its easily done, specially if you've got big 'ol shovels for hands! ![]() Otherwise, as you say, make use of your warranty. |

LOL... been there.... The clutch lever is hitting the pass button on the rear of the switch block when you pull it in... Angle the switch block slightly... dumb place to put the pass button anyway...
