Just joined - have a question...

Hi, I am a new Tenere owner who just joined this site and am overwhelmed with the quality of information here! I have a question but just want to apologise in advance in case the topic has been addressed many times in the past!
I am interested in buying the following 3 items from OTR. Firstly, would there be any problems installing them together? If not, would this combination be the best in terms of improving performance? And lastly, would I need anything else before installing these filters for them to work without issue? (1) DNA Stage 3 air filter XT-660 Z ( http://www.off-the-road.de/en/XT-660-Z-Tenere/XT-Power/DNA-Stage-3-air-filter-XT-660-Z.html ) (2) DNA High Flow Airfilter XT-660 Z Tenere '08- ( http://www.off-the-road.de/en/XT-660-Z-Tenere/XT-Power/DNA-High-Flow-Airfilter-XT-660-Z-Tenere-08.html ) (3) Power Commander V XT660Z + O2 Optimizer ( http://www.off-the-road.de/en/XT-660...Optimizer.html ) Any answers would be much appreciated! Al |

             Firstly, Welcome.
The three items you have listed are designed to work together, in fact you shouldn't really run the DNA filters without a fuel modification, especially the Stage 3. The Stage 3 filter hasn't really proved very popular, if you take a look through the forum some people have actually taken it off. The main reasons for this are; 1) it's gets damaged by off-road boots 2) it's benefits are for top end performance 3) it lowers your wading depth You will need the both Stage 1 and 2 unless you are going to cut your snorkel off. The DNA cover is stiffer than a cut down snorkel, and in my opinion better at keeping a seal, but others have functioned perfectly OK by cutting out the snorkel. You'll need to get a PC-V map suitable for the DNA's a few of us have this setup so a map is easily sourced, unless you want to put your bike on a Dyno. Obviously you'll get a more 'personal' map for your bike on a Dyno, over a 'standard' map (that isn't very far out anyway)

I'm not an expert but you could save a fortune by:
Fitting the Kev 02 sensor mod. Fitting DNA stage 1 and 2. Fitting the Kev Fuel Mod. Those PCV's are bloody expensive. |

| Welcome on board Al Have a read of this before you commit to buying the stage 1-2-3 combo, it explains all the hp/torque gains (and losses) with the various setups. http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?p=118359 Sadly the dyno graph image link seems to have disappeared though, but the text explains it all. |

Thank you all for your help!
Gas_Up_Lets_Go, appreciate that extra info on the stage 3 - maybe a no-go given the stock plastic cover is already scuffed from my boots. Now just wondering where I can get Power Commander Maps for the Tenere.......any ideas? Cheers! Last edited by 660Z09; 25-09-13 at 10:08. |

The airbox/fuel mods will give you more noticeable improvements over a can. Of course, most performance upgrades will give little amounts of improvement, add them all together and you have a very different bike. For example, Keithblade has a standard bike, I have DNA S1 & S2, PC-V, O2 Tuner and MTC Single Can. I'm much heavier than Keith too, yet my bike can out pace Keiths' quite noticeably.

Well go for the 02 sensor mod too. I am more interested in improving the 'rideability' of the bike more than getting more power. Can't wait to have these mods fitted. Thanks Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 4 |
