The wanderer returns
I had an XT660R back in 2007-8 but sold it and went through some faster and flashier machinery. However, I am now selling my BMW 650 and getting another XT660R. I was a member here in 2007 but haven't posted since then, so I am treating myself as a noob. I was also a mod for a while on the 'other forum', but I hope you won't hold that against me
On Saturday (if all goes well) I will exchange the F650 for a 2006 XT660R in blue. It will be my daily driver, allowing me to retire and refurb my XT600E, and I plan to do some serious touring on it next summer. My last trip was round France and Germany with my daughter on a Triumph Sprint. She loved it, but commented 'next time, can we go half as fast and see twice as much?' Hence the BMW, which is a great bike but dull as ditchwater. I can't wait to get back on an XT. Greetings once more to you all.

You are most welcome once again. The fact that you were a mod on the other forum was never held against you the first time, so there's no reasons why it should this time around, besides, Mel
is also a member of this forum and there is no rivalry whatsoever between us, as we are all here for the same reason.
Enjoy you stay here. |

Mistman, you're right. In the six years I have been back on two wheels I have become a full-time, all-weather rider, and doing more touring on the bike as well. I've had everything from a 1300 Pan to a Sprint in the meantime, but all of them have failed the ultimate test - do I LOVE this bike? I downsized to the mini-GS, and found that a 600/650 was a good size for my needs (always was, but I needed to find that out), but ultimately it didn't hit the spot and I started hankering after another 660R. Well, that or a 660Z, but a 660R came up at the right price, and ... here we are. I still have the XT600E that I bought as a drudge bike to save a Ducati from a muddy daily commute, and I think I will be buried with that bike. But it's very old and poorly now, and needs a bit of TLC. Thanks for the welcome, chaps.

yeah to beging with for just a few months, but then all was forgotten and peace reigned once again. Of course there were casualties, that being the other forum which is now internet tumbleweed, but one had to prevail, it's just so happened that it was this one. but that was not down to me or Mel it was down to the of |
