I don't think throw-over panniers are a problem on the Tenere as the exhaust is covered and not too hot to touch (I asume that you have the standard exhaust). However before you take my word for it, try getting your bike up to full temp and see how hot the exhaust is.
I'm looking at getting some Cameron Barker waterproof panniers very soon. I'm not sure if you'd need any pannier supports for them, I'm hoping that they'll be ok without.

If it's standard pipes then you'll be fine mate. Happy travels.

They should do, as long as they're reasonably adjustable. Have you already got some , or do you have some in mind? Like I said earlier, try googling the Cameron Barker's ones, they're supposed to be really good, and well priced. Have a look at different suppliers as the prices vary!

What are you panicing for as long as you're packed properly, you'll have a great time!!! How long are you away for?

Throw-overs...

I use both MetalMule boxes and throw-overs too, but not at the same time

I have a set of Hein Gericke "Pro Sports" and CARGO "Endurance" throw-over cases and they fit very well over the back-seat and down the sides, albeit, resting and connected to the pannier-boxes frame. Be careful using a bungee-cord under the seat from one bag to another as mine have been " cut in two" by the rear-wheel whilst in motion!

The throw-overs save weight and don't look too bad either and using a few bungee-cords to strap them down you'll be okay too
