Snorkle removal and MTC
I'm itching to do/buy something for the bike and was thinking of getting
DNA STAGE 2 (click)
However, after removing the stock cans and swapping them out for an MTC single can there is a sizeable hole under the seat where dirt gets through. I've plugged it as best I can, but after an offroad session there is still quite a lot of gunk under there. Probably the air filter would get most of it, but perhaps not all? Should I keep the snorkle? |

Get rid of the snorkle but fill the gap under the seat with some cut up milk bottle or if you're more fussy a bit of aluminium.
Check out this thread... http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?t=18731 You should be able to get a mud tight seal with some silicone too. |

Haven"t looked yet but i have used an old rubber car mat and cut to suit to block dirt getting thrown up under there before

Excuse my ignorance...but, itsnt the snorkle there for a reason? only last week is was in some really deep water yet loads of people say to remove it to let the bike breath?

The 'snorkel' is really nothing of the sort, being horizontal and forward-facing, water will come into the airbox at exactly the same fording depth whether it's fitted or not.
Effectively, if the water reaches the bottom of the seat, you're in trouble.

For sure remove the snorkel and open out the air box intake.
You'll need a Kev's fuel mod and block the AIS too. The bike will thank you for it.

Rubber car mat and some silicone sealer did the trick
