i tend to change them out around 2700 miles on average all these tyres have done less than 3 k and have been changed as a precaution ...i.e long trip and reduded off road grip except the sirac which was just not up to the job the exception is the k60 scout thtas done 4500 with loads of tread left ..the problem with the scout was ..when it wears to tyhe centre band its slippy on wet grass and mud ..biy i would still use this tyre on dry trails no problem ..but its not practical always to wait for a dry day its a tyre that would do well in morroco ..as long as deep sand is not your bag i reacon it would do 7 /8 thousand ..but its a decent tyre on drytrails and very very goodon tarmack if i do morroco again next year i would fit one with a tk front in the main pic they dont look too bad but up close theres not a lot left the close up of the tk is well less than 3k on the tyre so another1000 may be optomistic ive heard people tell of big milages on them ...the front lasts for 6/7 off road and maby 10 on road but how they get more than 4 off a rear ive no idea ![]() By minkyhead at 2011-10-26 ![]() By minkyhead at 2011-10-26 the henkau starts off like this ![]() By minkyhead at 2011-01-04 its when it gets to this it is poor on slippy ground but would probably go on for another three or 4k its a decent rugged dry destination tyre By minkyhead at 2011-01-04 ![]() By minkyhead at 2011-10-26 Last edited by minkyhead; 29-10-11 at 13:05. |

Mr CC and I get more than 6000 miles from a rear TKC80, and I would say twice that from a front.
That said. you cant just blow them up and never change the pressure for the life of the tyre. If you do this is how you get the centre of the tyre wearing out. We Drop the rear to 22 psi and front to 26 psi for hard off road riding and then put them up to 30psi front and 33psi for the rear on tarmac. if you zoom in on the rear tyre you can see there is plenty of tread left on the rear .At this point we would have already riden over 3500 miles . The tread is almost even and we still have about 1500 miles to home. ![]() Last edited by dazzerrtw; 29-10-11 at 16:33. |

I'm with Minkyhead, brand new TKCs fitted to ride down to the pyrenees and back with 4 days of trail riding down there and the rear had had it. That was running 33psi in the rear on the tarmac. Although we avoided motorways we were making progress and riding long days, maybe they just get too hot when used in this way and more sedate, stop start use will see a lot slower wear?

[quote=minkyhead;164041]personally i couldnt .. i reacon 4k would by the max i could get but they would be well past their best off road at 2600
i tend to change them out around 2700 miles on average +1 That said I don't drop pressures at all because I swap from tarmac to off road a lot in a day.

Dont forget were Tight yorkshire Man and at the cost of Tyres these days it's best to learn how to get the most miles out of them...lol
Unless your in a off road competition you can get away with a almost worn out rear tyre. That said I have to have a good front tyre, dont mind the rear slipping about but the front has to be planted. I have just removed the C and S that came fitted with the bike at 15,500 miles. and If it were not for us doing what were doing I would have left the chain and Sprocket on till spring. I could not aford to buy tyres if I were only getting 3000 to 4000 miles out of them. Stay safe Dazzer |

I can't possibly believe that you could get 5500 miles on tarmac out of a rear TKC even if you rode like a girl's blouse. I'm with the others with a 4k tops opinion. I got 3.5k (probably 3k of it tarmac) out of the last set I had, and to be honest I am a bit of a blouse!
