Hi guys, any tips of pumping tyres up at forecourt? I struggle to get the nozzle into and around the spokes. ie the valve is in an awkward place.

I`ve got myself a brass 90 degree adapter and it works..sort of..it makes getting the nozzle in a doddle, the only down side is when you start to unscrew the valve, it lets so much air back out(ie long thread), that im back to square one...

Is there a quick release adapter on the market?

Thats the problem, the threaded ones take ages to unscrew off the valve after filling and by the time its done, all the air has escaped.

I need one that simply clips on with friction or a push over clip, rather than thread.

I use an angled one and have no problems. You should always check pressures when cold . If you over inflate the tyre, then use a pressure gauge to set it how you like it .

I've found the exact one I have now - the previous link was the only link I could think at the time to give an idea. Been to the shed and checked out what it is...

This is the exact one I use on MTB, wheelbarrows and the bike! It still has a screw fixing to the valve, but it has an internal valve so when you fit it the air won't escape, which would solve your problem I think?? Go and have a look in your local cycle shop they'll have something similar.

Those look like the permanent replacement type valve, but those wont work with tubed tyres...ie. they are ok on GS/Vara/Super Ten.

Are you having trouble reaching the valve with both tyres? I used to get annoyed trying to pump air into my back tyre, but I found a way to slot the nozzle/handle through the spokes so it was actually in between the spoke rather than coming in at an angle.

Anther option is to buy a small pump or even a portable version like Airman Sparrow or Slime, and just inflate at home.

Yeh its basically getting the nozzle at the right angle to connect with valve on the rim. I managed to squeeze it through the spokes so that the nozzle was at right angle and use it that way but its a faff as the brake discs get in the way too as the nozzles seem to be designed for car rims. Thats why i thought that there might be a product like the brass 90 degree adapter i got, but with a quick release system rather than a screw in type connector.

I`ve got a hand help electric compressor, and do pump up at home, but i want to to see if there was another way, especially if out for any length of time.
