Tank size and range - the answer.
Well I know this has been discussed before due to the pessimistic fuel gauge.
After filling up on sunday for the ride down to Hereford (two up) I had 200 pre miles on the clock. I used it into work on monday with the reserve light flashing which I know is good for at least 50 miles but I still only get 20 odd litres in come fill up time. So this time I fill a one litre container and strapped it on the back for the trip into work yesterday. I expected to run out on the way back but still made it home! Filled up this morning with 313 miles on the clock and the tank took 23 litres so ne question answered ie it definitely is a 23 tank! 62 mpg.

Mine seems to keep getting more fuel efficient with every additional km. I'm close to 30000km now and this week recorded my highest mileage on a tank thus far. I was 2km shy of hitting the 400 mark when she hit reserve.
She's now at 35km of reserve, but I don' t think I'll be letting her run dry to see how far she will go on the full tank. Assuming that reserve is the advertised 6l and the tank is indeed 23l that brings the economy to about 4.25l/100km. |

I was at 298 Miles when I passed a garage
got 21 litres in the tank so I think 350 Miles could be acheived with a few mods ie free flowing zorst, topbox and a limp wrist lol

6 litre reserve sounds about right. I normally chuck some more fuel in when it hits the reserve light and I get about 16 litres in when it has only just hit reserve. Don't know how many km's i get out of a tank though... im always too eager to jump back on to remember to reset the trip meter.

I always ride on the tripmeter, never mind the fuel gauge. When I ride backroads, it runs 1lt:25/26km(doin' 80/90kmh), so 500+km's range is possible... When I ride highways it runs 1lt: 20/21km's, so understandable less range, but still good enuff! But all fact&figures aside, I usually gas up around 460km's, that'll do for me just fine...
Oh, and whenever it's available I'll run 98oct gas(in Holland not everywhere, but in Belgium lotsa), runs smoother imho. Greetz, Hans.

the good stuff is just too expensive in the uk so it counteracts the fuel saving over the car - bloody taxman!

i guess the only way around the high costs is use somewhere like tesco and use 3 times 5p off vouchers when you fill up
