Salisbury Plains Offroad -again!

At Easter, I met up with Tomsdad and some others for a very enjoyable ride on the dusty Plains.

(If anyone is contemplating taking their XT offroad, this is a great place to start, for your first venture, when it's dry that is....and staying on the "main roads".)

Anyway, the sun was shining, Imber Village (the MOD Training Village) was open, and I met a cracking bunch of new friends from another Forum. (ABR)

We met at the Countess Services, and after a quick breakfast set off for the first lane which was a short ride away...we stopped at the tank training area for a quick breather.

....and we did some lanes where you could go flat out (if you were capable!), but you would annoy alot of people, so we were doing a 30-40mph ride only when it was safe to do so (and no-one about)

Imber Village..

We stopped at a petrol station for lunch, and then did some more dusty tracks...until someone had a huge blowout...(read puncture!)

It only took half an hour to fix, and we did some more similar lanes before heading home.

I used this day to help get me bike-fit just before my trip to Wales. I had fitted a 14T front sprocket which made no difference on this rideout, but it was an improvement on the more testing ground in Wales.

Another great day on the Plains!! (It was a mixture between rutted tracks, grass, and open dusty gravel tracks. Perfect for a novice with an XTX!) And a Big Thanks to Andy for leading (again!).

Salisbury plain

How cool is the plain tho!! This is my back garden as i live at 32 regt RA.
I have the XTX atm but i may have to get an old XTR for some plain action. Also keep your Eyes peeled next time your on the plain for a 90's Ford Transit Ambulance called Katies Kitchen!! The best hot chocolate and bacon sandwich ever.
There is also a Motocross track just outside Amesbury on the A345 into Salisbury.
Cool pictures and bikes.
