Stalling

My bike was manufactured in June 2009. I find that the bike stalls very
easily, at traffic lights etc. I understand there is a problem with this on this model. Has there been a re-call or does anyone know how the problem can be fixed. Thanks,

hi, mine's a 09 and it's the first i've heared of any stalling issue. perhaps give your dealer a shout. is your plug and airfilter in good shape?

Adjust your idle so the bike idles at 1500rpm when warm & that should sort it out.

On a ride down through Spain and Morocco winter 2009-10 found that the engine would stall easily after about an hours riding when stopped at lights. Bike only had around 6000 miles on it at the time. On return to cooler climes and not such prolonged operation it seems to have settled down again.

I also noticed it at hotter days.
Mostly happened when you where about to move after waiting at a traffic light.
Dealer told me it was normal.

It starts right away, so no problem.

@KEV: you cant adjust idle rpm as its all controlled by the computer (that was what the dealer told me)

You best tell the dealer to read the Yamaha workshop manual then, as I would not want them working on my bike if they don't know how to adjust the your idle speed. If they can't work it out ask them to join the forum & we will show them how to.

It is ridiculously simple to adjust the idle speed. Shame on your dealer.
You don't even need the workshop manual for instructions.

This is from the owners manual:



I used a (not so sharp) screwdriver to reach and adjust the idle screw, worked fine
