Only used a split link on the replacement chain I bought, against the advice of a very experienced friend. Sure enough with a couple of weeks I was borrowing his riveting tool to fit a rivet link after the fishplate had worn through on the nylon rollers and half of it disappeared.
I still carry a split link as a get me home piece of kit but wouldn't have one on there permanently. Sorry I can't help more. |
