Only used a split link on the replacement chain I bought, against the advice of a very experienced friend. Sure enough with a couple of weeks I was borrowing his riveting tool to fit a rivet link after the fishplate had worn through on the nylon rollers and half of it disappeared.
I still carry a split link as a get me home piece of kit but wouldn't have one on there permanently.
Sorry I can't help more.

i want to fit a chain guide thats why i want the two different types
ideally i could do with a spare section and two links

reginas own site list the x and the r as z ring

but guess what ..no 660z listed grrr

the yam dealer are not able to help they have no idea ?

they sold me the bike with bolts missin out of the bash plate too
when i mentioned it they said we cant get the part and we havnt got a bolt that long ..
doesnt inspire you to buy another bike there does it ?
have they never heard of allthread grr
i dont want to split the chain and find i have the wrong links

may have to get a rk a few links to long and keep em as a spare section
its pretty annoying
