my gear lever hates my crash bar

Evening chaps!

First of, i have an 09 xt 660 R (also incase anyone is interested its black)
I have bought a set of crash bars from ze Germans at Off the Road, and am having a lot of trouble fitting them, their instructions dont seem to work as they ask me to use the original bolt in one part whereby it is far too short. Anyway primarily the gear lever hits the crash bar so i wouldnt be able to change gear!

I was wondering if anyone had tried fitting (un/successfully) fitting a set and how they overcame this!

I also bought their bash plate (and i know its not their fault but i fancy a moan) and cant fit that as the bolt i am supposed to remove from my bike wont come out as it hits the pipe!

Any help is much appreciated

Thanks in advance!

Have you tried emailing them ?

I have a bash plate for the Z, and when this arrived I had some issues, an overnight email to them and they told me it wasn't right and shipped out another part (there had been some error in manufacture of the mounting bracket).

Try them, I found them very helpfull, it will also help if you send them some photes to help explain.

As GULG said give them an email and see what they say.

If not take a few pictures and post them up here.

Ive an 06 R and modded my bike in sections. First i got a bash plate from SW motech, then a foldable gear lever from TT (2nd hand off this forum though!!!), had to mod the bash plate to allow it to fit/work. Then a got a set of crash bars which ment more modding to the bash plate and removing the foldable gear lever and replacing it with the standard one.

Ive thought about making my own gear lever but dont do enough off roading to need a foldable one.

im sorry i can't help you with your issue, but i can tell you for sure that my gear lever hates my crashes... all the time it folds backward, so i tought that buying stronger OTR version of gear lever could help me... did you ask them (OTR) is it possible to mount their foldable gear lever with their bash plate?

Hi Chaps,

thanks for the replies.
I have emailed them and they asked for some pictures to be sent too,
I managed after a lot of swearing and bending to get the bash plate on, but the crash bars are not having any of it, So i guess i will try emailing them with photos first and let you know how i get on,

Thanks again!
