At last brought a xt660r 09 reg 936miles last week, cannot stop smiling.
I want to put on a 2-1 exhaust. Could i do it myself or take it to the shop ? Any ideas ? |

2 into 2 gives you better performance....

Yeah, it does give better performance, but from what I'm aware of, its only marginal, don't think you'd really notice it on the road, depends on what you want from the bike. Not to mention, I bet a 2 into 1 would sound immense too. I think the main problem with 2 into 1 is the route the headers take, because it wasn't really designed for it there's limited room to play with and so any bit that comes near legs it worth having heat shielded! There are some bolt on systems available but I'd have to leave that down to the guys who are more in the know/have the systems themselves. It's almost certainly DIYable to fit a 2 into 1 exhaust to the bike, especially when you have such minds available at your disposal as what there is on this forum. But, in the long run, enjoy your new motor!
