locks replaced

Hey, y'all! Today the three locks on my Tenere were replaced, under warranty and no labour to pay! The locks: ignition-gastank-saddle, so one key-system as original. Now it works smooth again, just like a babies butt! Foremost the ignition lock regularly was a pain in the ass, that's all history now, but for how long........?
Anyway, they all work just fine again, thanx alot to my dealer Van Meel Motoren and YamahaNL.
Greetz, Hans.

P.s.: the ignition key I used in the old lock, was slightly bend, so due to break eventually?

I put some graphite in my steering lock, and it works very smooth again, but if it gets wet, it will be worse, so I will have to watch out for that, as the little lip doesn't close any more. Someone suggested that the vibrations kill the lock in the long run , you can see the marks the pins of the lock make on the key from the vibration.

Dallas, did they also replace the immobiliser system and have they told you what it would have normaly cost?

That's the first I have heard of on a XTZ, the XTX & XTR all have suffered from this problem for a while.

No they didnt replace the immobiliser, that would cost too much(around 1500,- euro's!!); so I can't use the red key anymore(I didn't anyway).

It's a Yamaha thing.

My Fazer was the same and so is my FJ1200.

My dealer is currently putting in a warranty claim to Yamaha for a complete lockset for mine, because the ignition barrel is worn, .

And yes, Yamaha owning friends have told me it's a Yamaha thing

Mine occasionally got a pain, just squired some pj4 chain lube in the lock and it's fine, leaves a bit of residue on the key for a couple of days though.
