to many questions, i know, but any help will be much appreciated. many thanks

First of all just get it, i got one a while ago now and they just transform the bike and allow it to spin up the revs so much quicker.
The filter will be ok for any type of dust or dirt but because its exposed more to the elements it just needs to be cleaned more often (or checked), also when washing your bike dont direct any pressured water to the filter.
Is it worth having if your only looking to tour etc? Yes the stg 2 filter opens up the bike better allowing it to make more hp and also torque, which when loaded allows the bike to pull better and you dont notice the extra weight as much.
Fuel consumption does vary a wee bit more, you can get better mpg if you take it easy but because youve more power etc ive noticed that you tend to spin the bike up and down the revs more because you can. But ive still yet to get below 55mpg.
Technically its not road legal and is stamped on the bottom of the filter with this. Worry Brother did a fancy chromed cover with just makes the filter look a bit more bling but also covers the not for road use sign. But most police officers wouldnt even notice it and its not like its in massive bright coloured writing.
In theory you are suposed to tell your insurance company if you change any thing on your bike from a standard spec, sometimes this can even mean the tyres youve got on!!!! Yes over the top i know but most dont do this. It would probably be best to say you have a non standard air filter but just explain its only so you can clean it/service it yourself and its not for performance purposes then it shouldnt put your insurance at all. (told my insurance about my mods and claimed that as i was fully comp any mods to my bike didnt matter but i got them to note them down anyway)
