Can XT660X be used for racing?
Recently I took the 2006 xt660x down to a motard track and had a fairly decent, hard ride with it there, it went damn well!!
Not that they were at all professional/correct but I did a fair few compression lock ups to slide into corners and after the day, and considering going back for another, I began to question how good is this for the bike... I use it mainly for riding around town, getting to work on a good day and weekend rides, and the track days would be maybe once every month or two.. is it worth going to the track with the xtx?? How much damage is done by compression lock ups?? And is there anything I should be doing specifically before/after the track day to keep it in good condition?? I know about tire pressure's for the track but that's about it Love the xt as a commuting bike and don't want track days to thrash her and be needing a new clutch or something after a few track days Any advice is appreciated, Cheers

cheers weeksy, just want to make sure the clutch plates, or whatever gets the most strain is capable of it.. maybe get some back up parts in case
it definitely doesn't stand much of a chance next to most at the track, they are serious motards, but i can ride to home and work the next day

Can't think of any reason you'd have clutch type issues. As with any other race bike, maintain maintain maintain. Keep the oil new, the plug nice and keep up to date with brakes, chain tension and cush rubbers and i think you'll be fine.
