Renthal bar - throttle cables - aarghh!!
Got a renthal bar to replace OEM - BUT, throttle cable is just too short as Renthal is slightly higher and wider than OEM.
Easy enough I thought - just change throttle cables for ones about 1.5 inches longer. BUT - easier said than done. My Yamaha dealer cant help; his best effort was to order cables from the TEnere, but turns out they are exactly same length as those fitted to the XT660R (2009 Q: does ANYONE know where I can get longer throttle cables made up, OR supplied off the shelf. The bike has been off the road for way too long waiting for this to get sorted, and I am cracking up !!! Thanks - in anticipation. stevia |

Dunno on the XT660R, but on many bikes you can reroute the throttle cable and get a few cm more.
Another alternative is to mount the throttle assembly upside down. have fun, j. |

Thanks - but dont want to reroute cable as original route is optimal; so, original question still applies...

Venhill can make you up any cables you like - just tell them which bike (throttle/carb/efi nipples) it's for, and they can do it... they might even know of something off-the-shelf that fits, but is a bit longer...
Personally if it's just a couple of inches you need, routing the throttle cables behind the yokes instead of in front is usually more than enough... if it's good enough for KTM etc. J xx |

You can Re-route the cables. I changed to the renthal high bars, just needed to un-clip a few ties and re-route. Some of the cables need to come up behind the bars instead of in front.
