dyno results customized Trinity 2in1/TB+2/BSM 2in2

1 Attachment(s)
hereby the new dyno results.

Explanation

green line:
Tritity 2in1 header with customised linkpipe/collector - Micron silencer - +2mm Throttle Body (+2TB) 62.96HP 72.09NM - 53.16lb-ft Torque

blue line:
2in2 +4mm OTR headers - BSM silencer and linkpipe. 63.31HP 75.68NM - 55.81lb/ft Torque

red line:
2in2 +4mm OTR headers - BSM silencer and linkpipe - +2TB 66.71HP 77.52NM - 57.17lb/ft Torque

The facts:

+2TB
The +2TB I can really recommend! It gave me an +3 HP improvement and a bit more torque.

Trinity 2in1 ( http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?...hlight=trinity)
The customized 2in1 system will give you gain improvements, weight savings and buttom clearance. But for the best results the 2in2 I can recommend.
The 'Rally Raid' XT by OTR, which has a 104mm bigbore+OTR 2in1+PP head+OTR cam, has got about 63HP according to an article I've read. Mine XT has also almost 63HP with a 103mm bigbore, but with a +2TB. Therefore the 2in1 customized Trinity is much better then the OTR 2in1.

Kev 21-03-09 12:33

Very nice result. 66.71HP, you got to be happy with that:035: As I told you Marcel, the +2mm throttle body does work, 3.4HP gain.:bienvenido:

You have proven the fact again a 2in2 makes more HP then a 2in1. Seen it so many times.

Next mod one of Kenny's new Cams, produces more HP & for longer then a stage 3 HOT Cam. Then a stroker kit. Gee I love spending other peoples money.

WoW marjani, 66, nearly 67hp from an engine that had not much more than 40 stock. Nice work.

some pics of the customised Trinity 2in1 with Micron silencer. This silencer is a very nice one. It has a removable dbkiller and you can take it apart by simply removing one bolt. In the collecter we even made a plug for dyno readings.

Some more dirt pics.
For those who are interested in enduro tyres, I'm currently testing Mefo mfc15 enduromaster front and mfc12 stonemaster rear. Got rid of the tkc80's after several crashes in terrain, no grip at all with tkc80's.

some more dirt pics. I took this pics on a 1 day enduro course of 5 hours nonstop driving through mud, sand and rocks and a lot of hill climbs. No engine overheatings, melting issues or what's so ever.
I took a pic of a KTM 530 sixdays edition. If I ever going to buy a KTM I definitely aiming for the sixdays edition. But the wrf450 is also still on top of my list.

My eyes felt on a new silencer by Akrapovic (m-h6/3). It has a titanium/carbon outer sleeve muffler and a full titanium muffler. The intake diameter is 60mm and the muffler's inside diameter is 60mm as well; that's exactly what I was looking for. The Micron I currently use it has a 63mm intake and the muffler inside diameter is around 50mm.
Also the weight of the Akra is only 1,5Kg!

Some welding needs to be done first before I can fit this beauty, it's done at the end of this month. New dyno mappings have to created and the results I will publish.

Greetings from Holland,

Marcel

Akra tested!

Today the Akra m-h6/3 was fitted and mapped/tested at dynocenter.
Two mappings created; 1 with closed lid (for enduro use), one with stage2 filter side cover.
Good results!

Weight reduction

The complete BSM exhaust system (otr headers/bsm linkpipe+silencer x2) weights exactly 2x5Kg=10Kg

Akra silencer: 1,58kg
Clamps: 0,02Kg x 2 = 0,04Kg=40gram

Micron silencer: 2,76kg
clamps: 135gr x2 = 270gram

reduction using Akra instead of Micron: about 1,4Kg
reduction using Akra instead of BSM: about 6Kg

Conclusion:
The Akra performs undoubted better than the Micron silencer at higher revs.

The BSM still gives you the best overall performance, but weights over 6 Kgs more.

I would like to test the OTR headers+BSM linkpipe with 2 Akra m-h6/3 and see the results. Maybe later, Akra costs lots of money!

The dna stage 2 side cover filter produces about 2,5Hp gain and more torque too. That's great BUT it's for RACE ONLY. So offroad use the closed lid.

I'm very statisfied with the results. I got back the lost HP and torque caused by the Micron silencer; Got even more HP than the 2in2 system ;)
The only thing is you have to rev the bike more.

Marcel you are getting as bad as used to be when I got my first XT on the dyno, I could not stop putting my bike on there to see the results. Nice work mate.

As I have mentioned before having the biggest HP does not mean it is the best over all result over the whole rev range. I will explain what I look at when I read a dyno run. Comparing 2 runs results RED 68.07 & Green 66.71HP, very close in HP at the end result but very different across the whole rev range.

(Point 1) As you can see from the over lieing dyno results, having 68.07 HP at 7000rpm is great, (point 2) but it comes with big torque & HP loss below 5750rpm.

(point 3) Far better result is the 66.71HP run which produces the biggest torque to 6300rpm, (point 4) & produces the most HP & torque across the whole range to 6500RPM.

This is the set up that would use.

runfile_0012 - 21-3-2009 3:41

2in2/ OTR headers (with custom sensor plug)
BSM linkpipe+silencers with dbkiller inserted
P&P head

CR 11,3:1
JE piston
+2mm TB
PCIII
K&N stage1& DNA stage2 filters

66,71HP/77,52Nm

I would have liked to see the 2in2/ OTR headers tested with the other cans as this header seems to stand out in my eyes on the dyno sheet.

marjani 30-05-09 10:04

thanks Kev,

I indeed do agree this is the best setup:

2in2/ OTR headers (with custom sensor plug)
BSM linkpipe+silencers with dbkiller inserted
P&P head
modded cam
103mm bigbore with Nicasil
CR 11,3:1
JE piston
+2mm TB
PCIII
K&N stage1& DNA stage2 filters

66,71HP/77,52Nm

I would like also to see the results with the Akra cans on the OTR/bsm headers/linkpipes. I would have to order another Akra for that. Have to save some money first for this mod ;)

pauli 31-05-09 00:31

Are those 2-2 headers available elsewhere other than through OTR?

I have been wanting to order these for a while now but I am a bit worried about using OTR as they seem to have bad reputation.

Looking at the good torque figures on Marcels tuned bike I am hoping I would get some good gains from these on my LeoVince + DNA 1/2 + PC3 combo. I guess the headers would do even better once I get the big bore, cam and head done.

Kev 31-05-09 00:38

+ 1mm inlet valves & you will be over 70HP.

marjani 31-05-09 09:49

As far as I know OTR is the only supplier who's making +4mm oversized headers. I also experienced some troubles with OTR but what other options do we have?
