Fitting a Trinity stage IV 2-in-1 exhaust
5 Attachment(s)
hello,
shortly I will try fitting a Raptor 700 Trinity stage IV exhaust on a XT660. As far as I can see yet it will need some modifications to make it fit. The headers look great, exact as I like them. Well bend at the exhaust manifold, good lenght of both pipes and a very large section diameter of the pipe which is connected to the silencer. Good quality, I already like it! To bad I cannot use it this weekend on my enduro trial....will need some more time to investigate this truly piece of art! to be continued ;) |
Looks good mate, you didn't go for the coloured ones. I know there were a bit more $.
|
maybe later, first need to fit this beauty ;)
|
They do look good, I have had an eye on them for a while now. I first time I saw one was last year at the dyno shop on a Raptor, the guy said it worked well & it made good HP.
They are made well. |
The pipe work is indeed pure Art
|
It's the best 2in1 I have seen ever :mbounce:
Hope to find me some time to fit this beauty soon. Greetings from a cold (again!:crybaby:) Holland, marcel |

a few bottlenecks to be fixed: the radiator hose + the end of the exhaust pipe needs to be rerouted.
Any suggestions are welcome ;) |
Looks to me like you've got yourself in a spot of trouble...
You need some pipe builder to build you a metal pipe with rubber ends to connect the radiator reservoir to the engine cooling receptor. It needs to be bent at the right angle too. As for the can how are you going to have that bent towards the frame because at the moment is pointing out to the right a bit too much. The rear brake reservoire can be re-routed on the inside of the frame towards the airbox, you just going to machine some sort of clamp that bends it. It still leaves you with the problem of the extra generated heat from the two headers running on the right side of the engine which might melt the spark plug lead, and your leg if you are not careful, which means motocross style knee high boots are a must everytime you want to ride. And finally... how are you going to justify the high noise level with Les Gendarmes? |
I don't think there is much of a problem at all, the link pipe can be bent or cut & welded to shape.
As we have already spoken about a few weeks ago Marcel about the cooling system, maybe fit a bigger or different outlet postion radiator, one to suit the exhaust mod. May be the outlet could be on the other side & make up new inlet & outlet hose to suit the new postions. I like those headers, much better bends then the other 2in1 headers for the XT. You sometimes hit curve balls when being the first one to carry out a mod, same as my Raptor cylinder conversion, they said it will bolt straight on, like hell it did. So don't worry to much we will work around the problem, if you want I can go one weekend to the bike breakers & measure up some radiators & try & get a model for you. |

Also I need longer exhaust bolts (4 pieces). The oem are to short. I'm going to check the sound shortly. I also bought a dbkiller for this type of exhaust, so if it is to loud I will use that. I'm trying to find me a company who's specialised in bending exhausts. Thanks. marcel |
Marcel can you give me the measurements in mm, from the frame down tube to the outer edge of the exhaust header.
You also could get a Alloy elbo made up & get it welded to the radiator, then fit a hose to suit http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/a...evxtx/2in1.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/a...x/radiator.jpg |
All fiddly bits aside, its still a thing of beauty !
|
Agree, lookin forward to end result.100% certain with a bit of careful pipe bending it will look a treat.
|
Looking forward to seeing the final result  And well done for stepping to the mark and taking on a challenge

the Trinity exhaust fits now the XT. Really great work I have to say, exactly as I wanted it, including the extra bracket mounted at the right passenger step. The only thing the modified part is not ceramic coated, but I don't bother.
I would also like to have a other heat shield, without 'Stage IV'. Will ask Trinity for that later. An extra clamb to hold the silencer I already ordered. Next challenge is to reroute the radiator outlet pipe..... Have to admit I really really like this exhaust mod a lot, can't wait to fire it up ;) Planning to sell my complete BSM exhaust system as soon as I tested the Trinity. |
Looks like a real beauty.
Thanks for the measurement of the header I will pop past the breakers sometime to check out some radiators. |
:wow: Marcel will need to fit a parachute launcher to stop that bike once it gets going :pjrlaugh_61OD3G:

Another thought on your radiator problem.
Why don't you look at turning the radiator around left to right, which will move the outlet to the left side of the bike away from the headers. You would then need to make or find a U pipe in metal or rubber for the inlet as this will be facing forward. You would also need to remount the radiator fan. This might be a cheaper option for you. Have a look, as this idear is only in my head. :onetequila: |

Alloy elbo and weld to radiator. Radiator hose now fits well.

Well done ,a touch of class.Think i might have another go with my exhaust.

some new pics. I replaced the Trinity silencer for a Micron. The sound was way to loud and unacceptable. We tried to make a suitable db killer but still it sounded to loud. So that's why I searched for another silencer. I could buy a Micron silencer very cheap. It is very well manufactured and the sound is much better now.
By chance I shooted the mother of all XT's as well. This bike is from my neighbour and friend. It is in perfect condition and in original state. Still have to make a custom mapping, will do this shortly. |
Nice work Marcel.
Don't forget when you run her on the Dyno to fit back your road tyre, otherwise the HP will be down with that tyre. |
