This is one of those quick, free and easy mods that I must get round to actually doing!

Been thinking along the same lines - a bigger hole, or even more than one hole? More air can be displaced and the risk of a high pressure squirt in the eye will be somewhat reduced too?

Cheers Phil

I remember someone on another forum using a cocktail umbrella placed in the filler and opened to catch the plastic swarf.

Smear grease on the drill bit, drill slowly and it'll catch the swarf.

Good thinking batman :3some:
I know the stuff will probably float and the in tank filter would catch it , but best be safe

I've drilled the metal tank of my old super tenere a few years ago. Then i emptied the tank and filled it with water just to be on the safe side.

The plastic tank of the pony was easier. Just a piece of towel into it and drilled the hole with first 3mm, then 4.5mm and then 6mm. Against every advise i used a electric cordless drill. Figured that the motor was so far from the opening that ist would not be a problem. Besides it was windy so my garage was pretty good ventilated.
