I prefer to take all I may need packing it into side panniers a top box and roll bag across the back seat. I rather not skimp although over time my kit is smaller and lighter but it costs money the smaller and lighter you go. In side pannier is my Coleman Phad 3 and Exped 9 dlx plus a pillow.

Other pannier holds tools, cooker, food, lights, fuel, and washkit. Top box for clothes, shoes and cameras etc. Roll bag for tarp and sleeping bag.

works well and took a few years to get it just right but camp in comfort. Quite often I get a few comments how I managed to get all of that on a bike but packing carefully it fits perfectly.

This has to be the straightest most boring endless road I have ever ridden as I travelled across Europe....It was so straight the distance faded into the horizon

Hee hee - not sure a full set of hard luggage constitutes 'packing light' does it Mike?!

Thats as light as I will ever pack! :icon_mrgreen: I left my fleece at home so its lighter than normal. The amount of times Ive had people sheltering under my tarp and when I come back sat in my chair as well Ive lost count.

I thought it said "Packing a light" so mis read it.:icon_lol:

is 68 grams light enough :)

arrived today is a sea to summit ultra - sil Daypack

20 litre day pack very light i paid 13.99 delivered in the uk just google them

very impressed with the construction, I want to try and lightweight backpack overnight with this bag but thought it would also be really useful on the bike as it packs down to nearly nothing and would be useful on the ferry etc for chucking all your odds and sods in, also useful for when you forget your shopping bag, wash bag swimming bag etc. could be used on the bike to carry light loads on your back.

i may use it above my kriega r3 waist bag to carry light bulky stuff including a thin fleece.

will start using the pack and report back soon, no lightweight camping just yet though its just a tad chilly out there.

as for the light packing ideas the ultralight camping scene offers lots of stuff to buy and make, spinikar material tarps and tin can stoves etc that will all work well on a bike.
