Ok, having now had a gander at the MM website the solution should be easy.

The fixing brackets appear to be rivetted onto the pannier, the MM frame is 18mm, same as TT.

So, just ask MM if you can buy the panniers without the fixing brackets fitted. (Or probably better with just the top 2 fitted as they appear to have to go at a set distance from the top of the pannier due to the locking mech.

Then just fit the other brackets to the panniers to suit the TT frame.

In the photos above you can see that you could fit the bottom 4 brackets to suit the TT frames quiet easily.

Job done!!

Nick.

Bloody hell - nice one Nick! - that would indeed be the solution (if MM are prepared to sell them like that of course) - top marks for lateral thinking!

Mind you, wouldn't it be sweet if they lined up with the frames anyway?! - if noone fancies a coffee with Steve, then perhaps a tape measure would suffice?

Well this indeed would work but I can go one further than that!
I've just had a look at my panniers (MM), the brackets are SCREWED ON.
Loosened one of the lower ones and it moved. The top ones for the locking mechanism are also screwed on but look as though they are also glued on and that glue looks pretty substantial.
Still it would be good to get out and try a Touratech frame.

See I'm trying JMo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Its a bit like this at the mo!!:violent1:

I would bet a coupls of beers that MM just copied the TT frame loop, would make sense as anyone who wanted a change from TT panniers would be able to just slide on the MM paniers to their exsiting frame.

SteveD,

Give your buddy at MM a call and ask if they based their frame loop on the same dimentions as the TT frame?

You could say you have a friend who is looking to replace his (or her) TT panniers and doesnt want the hassle of fitting a new frame...:icon_thumleft:

Consider also where the mounting brackets are welded to the loop, it might fit the loop, but if the mounting bars interfear with the case mounts then it may well cause problems, I'm thinking of the top ones, not the one that goes down to the hanger, or the stabaliser bar - just a thought

This shouldnt be a prob as the top fixing from the TT loop is very close to the corner and the MM brackets are in the centre of the loop, so they shoudln't clash.

Unfortunately I think you have a point there...

If you look at the MM frame, the top bar is right at the back:

Whereas the TT one has the upper bar right where you expect the MM boxes to clamp...

It's never that simple is it?

Grrrrrrr...

I'm curious, do the MM boxes come complete with the mounts? TT sell you the mounts so you can fit them where's best, or you can buy complete but all they do is to match them up to the loop on the frame.

If the MM boxes can be purchased without the mounts then there isn't a problem as you can use the TT ones, as long as the MM cases are strong enough without the MM mounts.... then again TT do sell (they do alot of component sellin gdon't they!) the internal support bar.

lots of ways to skin the cat, as they say.

just to throw a spanner in the works ive got off-the-road pannier rails there made in one piece but along the top rail theres two bits of tube welded on .ive got hepco and becker boxes i took the h&b mounting brackets of and welded up my own brackets to bolt to the boxes .at the top of the bracket i welded on two pins that slide into the two tubes , at the bottom of the bracket i welded on a short bit of tube and drilled a 4 mm hole through it you can now slide the panniers on at the top with a big washer over the tube at the bottom holding panniers against the rails with a split pin or a small padlock stopping the washers falling off works a treat ( i guess photos might make that look better must work out how to download them )
