interested if the 100watt bulbs worked ok without frying any wiring or melting any lens's? in the hand book they advise not to up the wattage for some reason?
If looks ok i'll crack on with this mod and must thank you again for the ideas/input. keep them coming.

I did wonder about that, but it seems fine - I must have done 1000 miles with them fitted now, and of course the headlight is on all the time so nothing seems to be awry... perhaps if you rode along with the high beam flash on at the same time it might start to overload?

As for the lens - the plastic front is a long way away from the actual bulb, so there shouldn't be (and hasn't been) a problem there...

The PIAA bulbs claim to only draw the same as a 55/60 bulb, but convert this to 100/110 watts of light ??

Must be magic bulbs........

Wonder if they're like magic mushrooms.....:033:

Nick.

Someone better tell Newton, this breaks the laws of physics.

P=IV, were P=power (w), I=Current (A) and V=Volts

So,

a 55w light;

55w = I x 12v , therefore

I=4.583A

So for a 100w bulb,

100 = I x 12 , therefore

I=8.33A

I think PIAA are telling porkies......

Next week I'll be telling you all how to work out acceleration under gravity with a given mass.....:coolsmiley:

Hee hee - I agree with you, the bulbs I bought (some crazy Japanese writing on the box) said 100/90w in small writing in brackets and 150/130w!!! in big bold blue writing on the packet!

To be generous to the bulb manufacturers, I think what they mean is it gives the 'equivalent' light output of the higher wattage bulb, due to the blue light spectrum they use, giving the effect of a brighter light as the light itself is whiter?

Anyway, all I know is they certainly appear to be brighter (or at least whiter) than the standard halogen bulbs... which is ok by me...

Hee hee - I'm liking you sense of humour... I bet you loved the Airplane! movies when you were younger? xx

I'm really pleased with how the rear indicators turned out too (sorry)... especially as I did them with a battery hand drill in the middle of the desert!

When I fitted them initially the flash rate was too fast (as it usually is with LED indicators) - so I abandoned my principles and actually bought a Motrax product - one of their relays that plugs straight into the original connector on the loom and now they flash as normal (although the tell-tale lamp on the dash tends to stay on rather than flash in time with the indicators, then occassionally it blinks out of time - gotta love Motrax...)

these bulbs the H4 type?

JMo 08-01-09 19:01

The Tenere uses H7 (single filament) bulbs - one each for high and low beam...
