Info Pistons
ciao a tutti ..
dopo vari problemi il motore stato chiuso il pistone dalla CP pistons stato sostituito con un JE , mi dicono che le misure sono identiche messo il pistone sulla biella inserito nel cilindro al punto morto alto (pistone su tutto) balla in avanti e dietro normale essendo conico ? grazie scusate ma in italia non conosco nessuno che abbia fatto queste modifiche goolge : hello to everyone .. various problems after the engine was shut down by the piston CP pistons has been replaced with a JE, I say that the measures are identical put on the piston rod inserted in the cylinder to the dead high (over piston) dancing in front and behind it is normal cone? thanks Italy sorry but I do not know anybody who has made these changes |
I have had a JE piston 102mm for 7 months with no problems. I am not sure what you mean hopefully someone can translate better. Or can you take some picture to show what you mean.
You may be talking about the movement of the piston at TDC, back wards & for-wards, if you are what is the piston to bore clearance? The JE piston does not have a offset gudgeon pin & is prone to more piston noise when cold, but will reduce the bore wearing, due to less thrust imposed on the side wall compared to a standard piston. blowup http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?t=5895 |

ciao CaptMoto :coolsmiley:
e gioco stato tradotto game buon anno nuovo anche a te |
We are talking about the same thing. Just make sure your piston to bore clearance is with in spec.:smilies0944:
What happened to the CP piston? OTR use CP pistons & they are one of the better pistons. |
Hi Kev,
I found someone who translates for me! The CP piston had a problem with the rings land so Ive send it back. The bore was bring in the measure of the CP piston, then I used the JE piston without considering the measures just thinking that this pistons suits at the bore OEM (102 mm). Now the engine stars without problem but I have this movement. I cant use the XT now due to the snow (about 30 cm here!!!). Did you have the same movement? Do I have to worry? |
You have to also gap the JE rings before fitting them, the ring gaps sizes come with each piston on a pamphlet in the box.
This is very important to do this!!!!!!!
I would always measure piston to cylinder clearance & ring gaps before fitting any piston. The JE piston does have movement in the cylinder, you ask how much, I ask check all measurements & if in spec then you have no problem. |
