You guys would get a better deal ordering form a UK dealer with the pund:euro rate being what it is, probably nearer 650 Euros mark for a new set, plus postage.

How come the Akros are so much more expensive in Europe here in the Uk the Yamaha price is only equivalent to 650 Euros ?

I always thought rip off Britian was Expensive ! I know the Scandanavian Countries are pricey but at least they have fresh air lots of space and lovely ladies.

cans fitted

Had a busy evening in the shed tonight, and got my Akrapovic cans fitted along with my metal mule screen and touratech handguards.

All the stuff seems top quality, especially the welds, and it fitted really well... apart from the H & B Pannier Rails I had fitted, as the cans clash with these at the rear mounting. (I'll put more on this on the luggage thread).

Unfortunately, these cans come with cat converters, (see pics). If I ever get to venture out of Europe, I'll get them chopped out, but as it is I'll leave them in. There are also db kilers, which are easily removed, and it sounds a treat without them! :toothy5: I haven't been out on it yet, so I don't know if it's any quicker. Watch this space, as I'm doing a 600 mile round trip on Sunday / Monday,

They make for a very sexy rear end. Suprised about the cats I thought they were meant to be cat free. shouldnt be a problem see Chris Scotts write up and replies, very little leaded fuel in Africa these days.

I'm still at a loss what anyone would want to replace the exhaust with a pair of pipes, unless the visual look is vitally important?

A single can (and tool tube on the other side) would be my preference certainly... however, as a budget thought - has anyone considered modifying a pair of Honda CRF250R cans (they are short and stubby and come as a pair on the 2006-on models)... I reckon with a couple of new link pipes, they'd be rather fetching? I also imagine that a set of lightly used OEM ones would not cost much on ebay?

I must admit if anyone had done a single can, I would have rather bought that. Still, they're on now, and they sound and look great (in my opinion), much better than the big. heavy, ugly stocker. Not sure about any power gains, it would probably need a Power Commander to get the most from it.

I too have Akra's fitted, however I am a little disappointed with the sound (not quite loud enough for me). They are made well and fit perfectly, and I still get a nice pop when rolling off the throttle like my old R with Arrow cans fitted.

I want to remove the baffles to make them louder, if I do this do I need a remap or any fueling mod??
