In the photos you will see a screw on the right of the photo, turn this screw clockwise & this will increase the idle speed. I would set your idle once the engine is warm to around the 1500rpm mark.:023:

Switch off Engine Run switch, switch OFF Key switch.

1/ Press both SELECT & RESET buttons and then switch ON Key switch, keep SELECT & RESET buttons pressed for at least 8 seconds. Display then changes to "DIAG". Release SELECT & RESET buttons.

2/ Press the SELECT button once until CO displays, press SELECT & RESET buttons again & hold, CO1 should display.

3/ Once selected CO1, switch on the kill switch & crank the motor. Once started the rev counter should be in the right side of the LCD screen.

If you want to see the rev counter you have to repeat these steps every time before you start the bike.

I tried this but all i get displayed is the word co,I held down the select and preset buton then switched the ignition on untill the word diag comes on the screen,I then pressed select untill co appears then switch the cut off button to on and start the engin and all that is displayed is the word co.
Am i doing something wrong or is it different on the 07 model.
Thanks,Andy

bebbs 20-06-07 23:41

It`s ok i have sussed how to do it now,My co1 reading is set to 14 and i am getting a little surging at low speed and the bike cuts out now and then,Would it be a good idea to increase this or should i leave alone.
Thanks,Andy

Is it possible to start the engine while in diag mode ?
I tried and didn't succeded.

ManicMic 21-06-07 16:15

Going off the top of my head at the moment but do as kev said....

Switch off Engine Run switch, switch OFF Key switch. Press both SELECT & RESET buttons and then switch ON Key switch. Keep SELECT & RESET buttons pressed for at least 8 seconds. Display then changes to "DIAG". Release SELECT & RESET buttons.
Select CO1 mode by pressing the SELECT button.

Then press both the select and reset buttons together until you hear a click.

Then you will see a "0" in the top right of your speedo.

Then start your bike and you can see your rpm.

Hope this is correct as my bike is somewhere else at the moment.

hey andy, mine was also at 14, i removed the snorkel and put it up to 17 and runs a lot smoother in lower revs now, i would recommend doing it, my bike feels a lot smoother, bring on the $$ for a stage 2 DNA filter i say!!!:deathmetal[1]:

BTW... :lostthread[1]:!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey, sorry to bother, i done this step by step a couple of times but i see the "0" when i turn the throttle still "0" ???

telesi 21-01-12 13:32

its an 06

CC XT660 21-01-12 23:17

Hi Telesi, I can't think of why the reading would be 0 if you have started the bike, there should be a reading for RPM when you give it a rev... one of the XT guru's should be along soon to help you out, best of luck with it

Sorted out, just had to change the co number up or down a number, and then hit the switch on and start the bike!

There's a lot of info about the C1 setting but what is the C2 setting for?

xphase 30-03-13 12:51

I have a 2008 XT660Z Tenere...

When doing:
Switch off Engine Run switch, switch OFF Key switch. Press both SELECT & RESET buttons and then switch ON Key switch. Keep SELECT & RESET buttons pressed for at least 8 seconds. Display then changes to "DIAG". Release SELECT & RESET buttons.

The only thing that happens is that the clock is starting to count up and I can change my Clock settings. Which is not a bad thing though... But not really what I would like to do! :)
What am I doing wrong, or is there any differences between years?

Any help is appreciated!

What am I doing wrong,

There is no diagnostic mode on the Tenere dash! You will need to get one of these...

I bought one and I have to say it was 90 well spent.

Rev Counter

I have followed all the instuctions to display the revs on my 2004 XT660X and the display stays at zero. I did notice the CO1 CO2 displays on my bike display C1 and C2, maybe the computer system is slightly different ?

Has anyone managed to do this on a 2004 model of this bike ??

Thanks.

RichW 27-11-13 07:41

One other thing to note (as you will see when you do this) - is that all you get on the screen is the rev counter, the rest of the screen remains blank.

I was hoping to see what rpm i was doing at what speed, and although i had to guess the speed, this has still given me a better insight to the engine to what i had before.

Carry on :icon_biggrin:

what a shame that the option of the rpm can not be left fixed

I think youre talking about a 660 not a 1200 z? Sorry dint read back 3 pages lol but the person asking about co2 rather then co1 . Co2 does nothing as that is for second cylinderd cylinder which the 600s dont have

cca 11-06-16 19:01

Rising the old thread.
Today I tried to check idle speed, but bike refused to listen me. When I try to wake up the rev counter on the screen, engine will just start with the normal screen. The last time when I checked the idle speed, bike behaved same, but after several attempts it accepted the commands. XTR 2007.
Anyone with similar experience who can give me advice about solving this issue?
Petre

Sorted. Disconnect the battery for a while.
