Hi and welcome to the forum:toothy10:

What bike have you got:question:

If its a tenere im not too sure, but have a look in the tenere only section im pretty sure ive seen a thread in there someone on tankbags.

If you have an X or an R then have a look at this
http://www.off-the-road.de/5.html?&L=1

ive the one called the tank enduro, fits like a glove, can hold a good amount of gear (13-19litres), is comfy to tour/ride with, and is very strong and generally a good bag.

Downsides are its not 100% waterproof and you dont get a cover to help to keep it water proof, this means your map pocket steams/mists up a bit, the other down side is the map pocket is small i will not even take a full A4 size page which causes problems when trying to find a map to fit(normally either to big or way to small and you cant see roads etc while on the move)

There are a few others out there, try using the search function at the top.

Firstly

:hismiley: :welcome: to :660: :family:

I use the Oxford Sports Lifetime Luggage which comes with everything you would want from it. The zippable base with map pocket does have magnets but it also has straps and a headstock strap so canbe used as a simple map holder. The bag itself is zip expandable and has straps and shoulder straps to become either a tail-pack or a rucksack and has a large see-through waterproof cover. Check the various outlets (MandP, Busters, TheFastOne, B&CExpress,eBay etc.) for offers - retail is about 85 but I've seen them for about 30.

Genuinely waterproof (with cover) and tough as old boots with extra bungee loops all over (can be used for attaching tents, tripods etc. as well as securing to the bike).

I don't like fixed luggage - too much stuff stolen from them over the years so the portability of a rucksack is much better - and it doesn't spoil the lines of the X & R versions of the bike - (the Z is beyond redemption).

hello upington

hello Baconj, will Upington be the one in Northern Cape SA?
If so, welcome to SA XT group, also check out SA Forum lower down in menu bar.

Maybe Labrat can assist, he recently searched for some ideas on tankbags, and made his own...really nice.
Cheers
