High Fender
A mix of mud and stones are somtimes making a lot of noise on the origanal tenere fender.
I was thinking of adding a high fender to my Tenere. I like this one, but in white colour. Its a bit shorter than the usual crossfender. (I dont want to take off :-)) http://www.acerbis.it/moto/index.php...&id=279&cat=18 |
I have measured the holes in the bottom yoke of the triple clamp. The hole centres match the same as a WR/YZF moto-x/enduro bike.
So I reckon that a pre-drilled mudguard from the like of UFO or Acerbis will fit. The only short fall will be the back part of the mudguard will be hitting the radiator grill. I think I will cut the read of the mudguard away......:017: Timpo. |
Ok, here is my high fender try out. Its actualy a Supermotard fender. I just drilled four holes in it.
It takes 10 minutes to switch the fenders. Low fender is better for allday use (riding in rain) I kept the Yamaha towing-ring But maybe it would look better in white? Whats your opinion? http://lh4.ggpht.com/Cotthem/SMqsZoM...0/100_3500.JPG http://lh5.ggpht.com/Cotthem/SMqse0c...0/100_3501.JPG http://lh3.ggpht.com/Cotthem/SMqsn1m...0/100_3503.JPG http://lh4.ggpht.com/Cotthem/SMqs0eB...0/100_3504.JPG http://lh3.ggpht.com/Cotthem/SMqsi2l...0/100_3502.JPG http://lh5.ggpht.com/Cotthem/SMqs-Z0...0/100_3506.JPG |
Very *******. (p h a l l i c)

Looking good, but yes should be white. Have you tested any water crossing and if it splash less up the gap behind the cockpit?
|
Actually that doesn't look so bad afterall (although I agree it should be colour matched)... I have a black Pollisport KTM supermoto front mudguard kicking around, I might give that a go...

I also think a high fender looks better.
See my avatar pic. Its a standard fender from UFO. The holes are also standard. I mounted the tow hook upside down at the top of the fender. Dont miss the fromt breakline holder as you mount the new one! |
Looking cool mate!

I ordered an OTR white high fender.
It's on his way right now. I'll post some pictures next week, when I've installed it. I also ordered a Metal mule radiator protection to replace the plastic one. Because I like the gravel roads here... And in combination with my next tyres; the TKC 80... :crybaby: I will replace the original fender before "planned" off-road trips by the high fender and maybe during rainy days by the original for every day work-home use. Keeps me also some time busy and away from pubs and girly tv-shows... ; ) |

Like the UFO fender alot it looks great very rugged, does it also help with turbulance ?
I also have a black stealth tenere so I think I will do this mod soon. |

Mudcrawler just to clarify your front fender is a UFO standard sm front fender ?
I will source one out on the web |
I like it like that
When the first pics of the Tenere were released i just thought it looked like Yamaha had missed something off the bike where the high fender now sits |

By mounting it, I had to put a washer on the rear screwes to angle it up a bit, Otherwise it touched the radiator gitter. //MC |
Thanks like the rear fender mod too your bike is looking to be a stealthy dakar beast, like the leo vinces too.
|
Cotthem and Mudcrawler, I might have asked this somewhere: does your fender block the radiator in any way?
Mudcrawler, it looks like it does from your pic, correct? Then you notice the difference in operating oil temperature? Also, what pipe you've got? Is it a single can? I personally like yours, because it's short and it looks very Mad-Max to me :) They come in white? |

Thanks!
I like it rough! Some more pics! http://picasaweb.google.com/Jorisschiptje/MOTO# But I will threw away the towing/recovery eyelet... Something with "BAD Karma"... Greetz! Joris |
Well, the eyelet can also be used for secure your bike when transported on a trailer or on a ferry, so I'll let it be.
The fender looks good, the best so far. No interfering with the radiator and its flow? The waterpump protector also looks fine, not as massive as a heavy engine guard; might consider that item too, thanx for the pix! Greetz, Hans. |
I haven't problems with the radiator, yet...
Maybe during travelling on some really muddy tracks? Maybe then the radiator will become stucked by mud...?? I hope not... W'll see. And I will place a metal radiator guard (oredered Metal Mule), when switching to the TKC 80's. Because I believe, these tyres will be a much bigger stone thrower then the Tourances. TKC 80 :violence: radiator One negative point about the OTR fender...; the color isn't exactly the same white. And I really relie on the standard protection. Only the pump seemed to need a little protection. :066: |
Just a thought, I would like to see a straight, narrow, sharp, triangle shape high fender that extends directly from the bottom of the white front below the headlight, kind of like the KTM 690 SM R
http://www.ktm.at/690-Supermoto-R.100197.1.html. At least, it won't be blocking the radiator.
Molgan, I recall you have a talent on photoshop, you reckon you have sometime to play around this one? :) |

Really like the high fender, but dont like the lack of protection to the rear, all that mud coating the radiator, one stone chucked up there... Does anyone have a longer sharper back to the fender, kind of like the XT660X where its high at the front but has a sort of hugger at the back, only make it slightly higher, and then possibly black with a white front. Definitely on my list of needs, but colour coded |

Some more pics of the Off-The-Road high fender; http://picasaweb.google.com/Jorisschiptje/MOTO# Same link of my previous post. Greetz! |
