OTR Rally Raid Fairing

Does anyone have the front Rally Raid fairing and what is it like? It's a lot of wedge but I'm sure I can justify it if I try hard enough...:sunny:

Come on, own up...who wants one of these.....

Havent got one but i would love to have one as i think that look of a bike is mega but i could never afford it.

How much is it??

Edit:Ah just looked at the price and its E739.99, so not cheap.

Anybody have this, I'd be willing to put out the cash for it if it's good ;)? Are there any other fairings like this around?

Piipz 19-01-09 12:06

As far as I know, this is the only rally-raid fairing for the XT.
Looks a lot like LC4 adventure though :)

I'm also very keen to find out if it's any good.

I raised my whole light fairing/assembly 70mm. Even with the Yamaha tall screen, i still get it in the face.

A little hint for some screen extenders. I havent tried this on XT, but on my previous bike, I bought another original screen, cut it in half and used 1inch spacers to extend the screen for a couple of inches. It worked surprisingly well. I think the gap between the two screens also helped out somehow.

i think thats all to do with air flow, basically if you put a massive screen in front of your face the air will flow over the top of the screen but will then create a suction effect after it and this is what most people feel and complain about when they have massive screens. This is the reason why so many screens have holes or gaps at the bottom to allow a bit of air flow in to distort this suction meaning you get a better, nicer ride. This is what you did with your spacers but with out knowing it.

deiaccord 19-01-09 14:33

In addition to the suction behind the screen being uncomfortable it also creates lift which will make the front of the bike feel light at speed.

maxwell123455, i knew it but i didn't know how to explain it. I was just told that using spacers helps the buffeting instead of just raising the screen up. thanks for the explanation ;)

I can see where you're going, stuxtttr.... There seems to be quite a few guy interested in the OTR Rallye fairing. I am curious. Would you get it because it looks the part, or it keeps the wind of you? And that is my next question: does it help keeping the wind off you? Listening what maxwell123455 and deiaccord is saying, theres gonna be a lot of turbulence behind that fairing.... i guess.

But i still want it!

i think its going to be ok for the shorter rider but if your around 6ft or taller i think its going to be buffing your head/helmet a good bit. As for me at the moment the high yammy screen does the job but as ive said before if i where doing any larger milage i would maybe want something taller, maybe a home made screen or something.

I would also like to hear from someone that actually owns this screen. I am soooo fed up, trying to get rid of the wind noise on my XTR. Please let us know if they are quiter

rudiedj 13-07-09 11:48

I have googled it but cannot find anyone owning one of those. I have now emailed otr themselves, and await their response.

Hello! Did you get an answer from OTR? Did you buy it then? How does it work for you? Any1 have it for sale second-hand btw?

Hi all im in the same place. Considering changing my XT but really dont know for what. I know its not cheap but from a styling point of view i think the Rally Raid kit looks really good and tarts the bike up a treat but i would really like to get feedback on how good it is cruising or in rain. To give an example i have the tall touring screen and if its anything like that it would be worth it for me.

Cheers
