+2mm Throttle body
Just got my spare throttle body bored out +2mm from 44mm to 46mm.
It was sent to the USA to KDS racing, where Kenny bored it out for me. Kenny specilizes in the Raptor motors. It was bored +2mm with a new throttle plate which is thinner & the spindal was machined thinner as well. Flow testing on other +2mm throttle bodies showed (flow bench tested 270.1cfm stock- 294cfm modified) so more air should = more HP. I will have to reset the PCIII to get the Air/Fuel ratio right. The detail can be read here. http://www.bluetraxx.com/reviews/kds_throttlebody.htm Kenny's web page. http://www.kdsracing.com/ Kenny provides fantastic service, with only a few days turn around & posts to anywhere in the world. I will get my bike on the dyno in a few weeks time with a before & after dyno run. http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/a...rottlebody.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/a...evxtx/46mm.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/a...evxtx/48mm.jpg |
Looks like a SU :coolsmiley: I guess the theory is the same. If so another mod that was done on the SU was to thin the leading edge of the butterfly? and to locktite small countersunk screws to hold the butterfly in place providing a flatter surface. :048:
What is beyond the butterfly?? :icon_scratch: Look forward to seeing your dyno results.:SpinHappy_15XK8L: |

If anyone else wants to buy another throttle body to send to this american company where Kev sent his to be modded I have a spare one for sale, having 2 will give you the possibility to swap them in case you want to change it back to normal one day.
PM me for price and details it includes a TPS and all fittings. Please also note I still have 2 engines one full, one in bits minus the barrel and valve head, so if anyone needs another top end to be sent away for modding to 700 you can buy the whole spare set from me. |

Well it's not as straightforward as one might think.
If you read the 700cc conversion thread that Kev did to his bike, you will see why, follow this link, please: http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?t=5895 Whilst the Raptor part will slot in, there are some modifications that need to be carried out because some of the routings don't match, and if you don't have access to routers and accurate instruments in order for you to be able to tap holes and redrill others then your best bet is to get an XT top end and have it rebored. |

Oh I see what you mean now, we need to ask 2 people, one is of course Kev and the other is Freez, who actually mods Raptors for races, I am not sure if the engine mountings *(frame mountings that is) will match as the raptor frame is obviously different from the xt.
