Hi Jason - thanks for the link (although I'm actually in north Wales, but there you go... x)

I was thinking along similar lines myself, and am going to speak to Zorstec (in Shipley Yorks) who did a custom system for my Ducati a few years ago now... their work is top notch, and Andy is very quick too...

He prefers to do one-offs, but I reckon he could be tempted to make a pattern if this is something other Tenere owners would like?

I'll keep you al posted...

Ok, fitted the stubby Viper onto the Ten just now, and at first glance all looked as it went according to the plan:

But somehow I managed to get the angles for the pipes all wrong :D:

Back to the drawing table hehe (it's even more crooked live then what it looks like from the pic). Anyway, took it for a spin and I almost wet myself when I fired up the engine, the exhaust didn't come with any db-killers for some reason. Poor neighbors. Must find a way to tone the thunder down a bit. Have ordered a map-tube to place where the other fake exhaust was, and next project is to replace that hideous plastic inferno in the back with a light aluminum thing to hold the rear light, plate and turn signals.

I think something around 300-350mm long would be more 'appropriate' - but I'm interested to see how you get on...

Madman!

Yep, I actually ordered a 390mm can but they made a mistake and sent me this one instead. It only cost me about 200 with shipping so I thought "what the heck, lets try it on". =)

Hi Molgan, now that you have the stock exhaust off, I (and other Tenere owners I presume) would be very interested in how much the stock exhaust weigh. It will be great if you can do us all a favor to weigh them, as dealers of after-market have not been able and/or willing to release that info. Many thanks, Joseph

The exhaust (that is back on the bike until I recieve the db-killer) weighs 5,75kg without the plastics. I can't swear the scale I used is 100% accurate. I saved about 4kg switching to a single can, not much compared to my old DR800 that I cut 14,5kg from by switching to a slip-on. =)

At a UKGSER bash just this weekend, I had a chat with a chap from Metal Mule, and he said they were ken to design and have made by Scorpion Exhausts a single can system for the Tenere.
In the space where the left hand of the exhaust was, a dummy silencer can is going to be designed.
If your interested, please drop him an email and the more folk interested and enquiring, the quicker the product will be made available.

Timpo.

Hey hey - this may have been my inspiration, as I popped down to see Paul at Metal Mule the other week and I asked him if his exhaust people would be prepared to develop a single side pipe (as you say, a dummy can on the other side would be great for tools/water bag etc.)... glad to hear they are seriously considering it!

I'll definitely have one (if I haven't got it sorted already myself in the States)...

Metal Mule is looking into making one however they are stuck with the issue of the cat 4 type catalytic converter and once they have worked out how to fit it into one single can, then production will eventually go ahead.
