Akrapovic XT-660 Z Tenere

The first avaiable exhaust system for the new Yamaha Tenere!

Leovince SBK Silencers XT-660 Z Tenere

Also Leovince now offers a new exhaust system for the new Tenere. Compared to the 'normal' XTs (XT-660 X and R) they do not use the X3 silencers, the newer SBK silencers will fit to the Tenere. The silencers are made of stainless steel (inner parts), the outer tube is made of aluminium. The silencers are oval shaped with a conical end cap. Exhaust system without catalytic converter.

I inquired them some week ago, and in the reply they added:

At the moment we are working on our own exhaust system (like to one for the normal XT-660). If it is as good as the one for the normal XT-660, then it will be the state of the art system.
The exhaust is nearly ready know, we go to the Dyno in the next days.
Hope it's good.

I visited my dealer today and they had a new Tenere fitted with the Akra's for a customer(not me) and they looked and sounded good!! The db-killers were removed, so it wasn't really street-legal, but jeez what a great thumpersound! But I'll stick with the Leovinces SBK system, that'll arrive shortly. Will sound good too, but for less euro's! Anyway, this Tenere had the full package, all the parts available so far, were fitted. Things to be added, are: Powercommander, other cam, other airfilter and so on and then of to Dynojet testbench to be fine tuned. The dealer will keep me posted how it runs and performs. For me personally, the Tenere performs okay(only other pipes), but I'll watch all developements. Greetz, Hans.

Do any of these systems allow the bike to be lowered further. The stock one is the limiting factor as it is a car type one.

Interestingly, the exhausts they had on the one at the NEC were completely different from the one supplied. That was a two exhaust system that went in a 2 into 1 into 2 configuration.

Long body, short legs !

Just out of interest is the original back box stainless steel ?

If so I may wait a while as I have no funds for new exhausts.

The Leovince SBK exhaust system has finally arrived(holidays in Italy!) and looks very solid and well made. But due to an overload of work in the workshop of my dealer, they'll be fitted end of next week. I can't hardly wait! I'm anxious to hear those pipes produce that fat thumpersound. Patience.... Greetz, Hans.

Cool ! I'm very impatient to have your opinion :-)
Don't forget to take some pics :toothy10:

Cool, and also remember to try to put a sound file of the new pipe, or a pair of before and after sound files to compare. BTW, are you installing power commander too, in order to smoothen air/fuel mixture curve as well as economizing the fuel consumption? The reason I ask is that with my DNA air filter, I notice a drop in fuel efficiency. It may be too much to get a power commander for the air filter mod, but with the new pipe may be it's worth it.
