First sunny day in ages, time to get the Tenere out on the roads of Cornwall :D
May have had to violate some National Trust property but the pictures made it worth it :) http://i1358.photobucket.com/albums/...er254/ten1.jpg My beautiful beast, now complete with some working electrics :D http://i1358.photobucket.com/albums/...er254/ten2.jpg http://i1358.photobucket.com/albums/...er254/ten3.jpg http://i1358.photobucket.com/albums/...er254/ten4.jpg http://i1358.photobucket.com/albums/...er254/ten5.jpg http://i1358.photobucket.com/albums/...er254/ten6.jpg Some views you cannot beat |

My tenere with new spiketyres. Works really great. On hard packed snow roads I can ride like at summertime, maybe even harder :)

Good grief!! I can't imagine riding in conditions like that. Amazing. And very impressive.
The photos of the XTZ bring back very fond memories for me. Bulletproof, friendly and capable are some words that come to mind. |
Morocco a few weeks ago....
Might organize another jaunt over next year (if anyone wants to tag along)

So high mud guard and stage 3 DNA fitted :-)
Have mixed feelings about the stage 3 though... http://i2.fmix.pl/fmi1748/360a6a58000b87ac51030271 http://i1.fmix.pl/fmi582/e04ef61e0006e44c51030236 http://i3.fmix.pl/fmi1853/17a4e1fe001f09d651030202 |
High mudguard and lotsa mud, but runnin' street tyres? Must be a challenge....
|
Wasn't that bad :-) Thing is - i'm doing only 20-30% offroad at the moment and that 70% of time on the road is worth a little struggle when off. It will be great to have TKC's but with my style of riding on tarmac they wouldn't last longer than 2500 miles i think.

I'm runnin' Heidenau's K60 Scouts now on my Tenere, way more grip on- as offroad, in comparison to the Tourances I had before(also better in wet conditions). At this moment at around 15.000km's they're still doin' fine, still some more km's to go.
|
Looking good. Will have to try later, for now i have set of Full Bore tyres which i had with bike when bought it. Don't expecting to be much better than sirac's but for my UK green lanes will be enough.

Amazing... cant believe you've gone to Mongolia and still have a number plate. I did one lane on mine and the plate gets smacked off within half a mile:laughing7:
|
To be fair, the numberplate was gaffer taped on by that point; having fallen off in Kazakhstan. It then got smashed altogether when the bike was freighted from Ulaan Bataar to Bangkok. Bike survived OK though.

A wonderful sunset photo. Good one!!

That is a serious statue - where is it?

It is a statue of Genghis Khan about half an hour from Ulaan Bataar. Very impressive!

replacing throttle cables and removing the winter grease layer
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8103/8...2bbc007e_o.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8384/8...96f0fffa_o.jpg this afternoon I also put the stage 3 DNA filter again , I forgot it makes a big big difference , the bike is so much more alive ... , and love the sound coming from the airbox ... why I replaced the cables ? well they broke down the second time , I have the enduro high renthal handlebar and 2.5 cm risers and even by re-routing the cables still they had to much tension on them cause they broke down twice , so I removed the risers , and now I'm looking for a pair of lower footpegs (like sw motech) but I just find them way to expensive for some stupid metal pegs and for those curious why both wheels are touching the ground when it's on the middle stand , it's due to the rising kit , it's very handy when removing the wheel cause it sit's at the right height for the rear wheel axle to be placed in :) I just have to put it on a little higher surface when I want to grease the chain with turning the wheel ... |

Hi
apprentice adventurer
Has your front mudguard got a ally re-enforcement bracket on the udner side? i ask as i was going to put a little fender bag on the front like you have but didnt want to damage the mudguard. P.S Kemizz i notice you have an Excel rim on the rear, is it on the standard hub? |
Quote:
I bought the front guard from Off The Road, its by polisport. The two halves of the guard overlap each other by about 100mm and are held together by three screws and nuts. But when you put the extra weight on it, then travel off road it can't cope with the weight. I have since reinforced it by adding rivets all over the two joints. Cant just use normal rivets, not long enough because the two halves of the guard overlap and are little thicker. |

jep on the original one , my bike shop had to drill the holes bigger in the hub to make the thicker spokes fit the hub , but for the rest all fine |
