Sump guard
Hi Folks, I am new to this forum. I recently bought an 05 XTX which is great.:001:
I also bought a genuine Yamaha sump guard/belly pan off ebay but it didnt come with the brackets. I asked the previous owner but he has sold the bike. I have contacted Yamaha and asked them and they can only tell me that I cannot buy the brackets seperate and would have to buy the whole lot :011: Would anyone have any idea how these brackets are made up ? |
:hello: and :welcome: to :660:
There is one of our forum members that actually made his own belly pan, but I can't remember who it was, if anyone does please help, he might be able to give you a few ideas. Good luck and enjoy the forum pssst (newbie section :smilies0946: ) :spanking[1]: |
welcome to the forum mate.
I think you would have to make up your own brackets. If someone could post some pic where it is bolted to the bike, that will help to see what needs to be done. |
Welcome to the forum.:family:
Im with Kev on this one. Shouldnt cost/take too long as from what i know of the yammy bash plate its very much like all the others. Ive a SWmotech bashplate and its used 2 connections to the bike. First on is under the engine just infront of the rear suspension(in front of what i guess is some sort of centre stand mount). This mount is just a U shaped steel with too tabs out the top with some nuts welded to it. The other is between the exhausts at the front of the bike behind the front wheel. It connects onto the oil deliverly tube and again has a U shaped piece of steel this time the 2 prongs of the U get bolted onto the delivery tube. (I would get you some photos but im away to england tomorrow on the bike so dont have time, sorry, should be able to get some next weekend if you can wait that long) Edit( just noticed you come from Northern Ireland, where abouts do you live??) |
Hope these pics help.
http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...8062008123.jpg This is the front mount. http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...8062008125.jpg This is the rear mount. All the bolts go through rubber bobbins so the guard dose not vibrate front bolts are allen heads and the ones underneath are M6\ 10 mm spanner |
Thanks folks for your help and suggestions. :) Bear has kindly sent me pics of his bike and sump guard brackets, so I will be able to make something up to hold it on,:icon_thumright:
PS. I will have to get some pics and introduce meself :toothy11: Thanks again Keith |
