Permission to sell performance parts.
I want to find out from the forum management/administrators if they would allow me to sell performance parts for the XT660 via this forum.
Over the years, I have invested a lot of time in having special parts made up for the Raptor 700's and a lot of it will fit the XT's motor. One of the neat things that I have had made up is special high flow stainless steel valves. I can make any valve size from stock to 2mm oversize and they are lighter than the stock valves. These valves can also be cross flowed, polished and undercut to improve flow even further. All of these valves are CNC cut to exact sizes. Then, to compliment the valves, I can have special Phosphor bonze valve guides made up. These guides are far more resistant to valve guide seize and they claim that these new guides conduct up to 88% more heat than the stock guides. Then, if I look at the price Off-the Road charges for porting or gasflowing a head, I can provide the same service, plus a bunch more for a better price. For example I can have a used head stripped, cleaned, ported, valve seats cut, new guides, plus 4 new performance steel valves installed, new valve stem seals and fully assembled for less than what they charge to port the head alone. Basically, you take the head off the bike, pack it, send it to me, I do my thing and send it back to you, fully assembled, valve clearance set, ready to be installed. So you save a bunch on labor, plus you get so much more. If you want just the basics (stripping, cleaning, porting, valve seats cut and fully assembled) and not get new valves and guides, then the price is way cheaper. Also, things like re-nikasil of the sleeve might be cheaper for me to do that what you can get it done where you are. The guys I use can even repair badly scared sleeves and repair them so they will be able to take a stock piston again, without going oversize on the bore. I can even go as far as putting a whole performance package together for the guys. Starting with a stock XT bore and stroke setup, but increased compression, with the ported head, with or without the above mentioned head configurations, with any stock to 2mm oversize valves, and all the owner does is pull of the head, and barrel, send it to me, and I will send you the gaskets, cam, piston and all the rest, ready for assembly. I will even go as far as install the piston and rings for you if you like...lol. Would this be allowed and if so, would there be any interest in this? |
I think it is a real good idea Freez.
I have been ask to do something similar by a few forum members. Unfortunately I do not have the time to run around to make up performance kits to sell. I am sure you will have a few forum members interested. :sbike: |
Freez, believe me, permission is not required.
This is not a plc (public limited company) so as far as I am concerned we should have more "entrepeneurs" like you on board to create mods for the benefit of our growing community. I have only one grudge with this situation and that has nothing to do with either you Mr. Freez or your products, and the problem is related to the infamous South African postal services. I know that they are slow at best of times in processing shipments and post, I used to have a s/african gf and she told me that the post services there are known to be corrupted and and also capable of stealing goods. I've sent a parcel to Captain (a south african forum member) 3 months ago and he didn't get it, I sent another to another member (the water pump to Hyundai) and it took 2 and a half weeks to get there despite having sent both by recorded delivery and first class postage. I wonder if you are planning on using an alternative way of shipment. Let us know. Thanks |
Its a Shame we can only send data streams over the internet. Worldwide and immediate :toothy12:

It depends on how you send it.
If you use the normal postal service, then yes, things take time, but if you use DHL, UPS and the likes, things get here a lot quicker, sometimes overnight. I work for a company that use a lot of international courier services and I am sure they will know how to do this a lot faster and not break the bank also. I will investigate some other methods also. Apparently, and not sure if this works for international flights, I can give in a parcel at the airport, get it on the flight and you can collect it from the airport again after the plain has landed. Anyway, in the next week or so, I will be doing a few heads and I will take pictures of what the parts look like before and after. |

Yo Freez... I think this is a great idea and yes - I for one would be interested. Some suggestions: Make the options as SIMPLE as possible kinda like car hot up shops do with their Stage 1,2,3 conversions. Few people on here are as technical as you and Kev so when you start getting into very tech stuff it just confuses. Ideally your offer would look like this: Stage 1: Cost: xx Power: xx What you need to send us: xxx What we give you / do to your motor: xx Just my 2c. Cheers, -GF- |
Great suggestion.
I will look into making up a set upgrade package and get back to you guys. Anyone have better ideas how to ship the parts back and forth for a good price? |
