helemt for xt660 R
Hello,
soon i'll have a xt660R and i'm interested in buying equipment. I have problems in choosing it, especially the helemt. What's the best choice a fullface helemt (rx7) or an offroad one (arai vx pro 3). I'm a beginner so i don't know what's like. I'll be using the bike in the city and offroad (forester roads), trips less than 300km and speed under 120km/h. I think i want the vx pro 3 but i dont know if is good for the city. About the tour x2 model i don't know is neither full neithel offroad. I saw that on the yamaha's site the pilot on the xt660r is wearing a offroad helmet, but i want to know the opinion of the xt660r comunity. So, the xt660 R owners are pleased to tell what they have choosed or what do you recommend. thanks |
Hi ive got an XTX so I dont off road it but I have a Tour X lid cos it suits the look of the bike its a full face moto X style lid with a visor its an ok lid as far as im conserned but you do get a bit of wind noise from it! Mostly I ride up to about 85 to 90 mph ok though.

I would love to get an MX style helmet so i can look the part on my XTR but just cant afford to get a new helmet at the moment. Ive got an Arai Condor and its does the job fine. I dont think it really matter what helmet you where as long as it fits, its comfy and will protect you if you take a fall (hope this never happens to anyone)

Airoh S4 for me too and :welcome: to :660:

thanks for reply
i'm using a Shark s 500. I have tested a Lazer but i took the Shark for fit I couldnt find an Airoh to see how it fits, i needed a helmet so i took the Shark. I know is not a good option but the next helmet will be probably Airoh S4. |
Xtreme... see capt moto send hima PM as a think he`s got a black Arioh 4 fur sale.... an he looks after his gear....Mabozzar

I have a Lazer Fiber Pro - Nice and light 1450g and fits me perfectly. But I wish I had a peak to shade the eyes from the sun, which this helmet does not have.
Just my thoughts. |
Get one from a reputable company which fits your head PERFECTLY. I use a Tour X, only cos I think it looks the business.

i use a bmw enduro helmet nice & light.

Airoh S4 i found rubbish when i bought my Superduke, visor misted quickly and was very uncomfortable.
Shoei Hornet was very comfy as was the Arai tour X. I was quite suprised by the Airoh Stelt MX lid which not only looked ACE but was comfy too. |
I got myself an boorman arai x3 lid, and it is the best helmet i have ever had, fits perfect and looks awesome bit pricy but you can pick it up for about 350 on ebay.
|
SHOEI Hornet DS. What more can I say, the helmet is perfect for me, I rate it 5/5.
|
i was gonna buy a hornet, but couldn't pass up the arai in the colours i have it in:icon_farao:

Anyone tried a HELD 7810 Takato?
quite cheap at 100? see link http://www.getgeared.co.uk/HELD_7810...orcycle_Helmet:100: |
I will swear by my shoei hornet. It is expensive, but awesome. It has a very effective double glazing visor for no-fogging
|
not sure if tht relevant but i got a hjc is 16 after lookin at cabergs, was more interested in the internal sun visor, but hav found the noise level is annoyin, after longer rides my ears feel like they ve been at a rock concert
