Air box vents

Have ordered these little gems from Ballards: See bottom of page

Possible (and very cheap) alternative to the DNA stage 2 filter - or in addition to...

Also if drilling holdes in your airbox (ala Kevs mod) makes you nervous about water and dirt - these will also do the trick.

Will let you know how they pan out when fitted....

We have covered these prefilters before, I will go over it again for the new guys.

These filters are used as prefilters, which means they are used before the main filter not after the main filter. If they are used after the main filter you will damage your engine, due to the filter materal not filtering the fine dust.

You can not use these filters on the side cover of the air box as this chamber is the main filtered area, you can use them before the main filter if you want.

My airbox is different (Aprilia Pegaso Strada) where putting vents in the side of the airbox is still on the right side of the main filter and therefore acts as a pre-filter. However, with the airbox vents I have used, if one were to replace the standard foam inserts with foam you cut from a propper foam filter and if you were to oil the foam with filter oil - I see no reason why you couldn't use these vents of the engine side of the main filter (provided you clean them periodically). It would be an interesting exercise I think.
