Nice one Kev! Out of curiosity does anyone have an idea on its weight? The bikes total dry weight is 165kg and it would be interesting (perhaps irrelevant too) to know how much of it actually comes from the engine.
Cheers! |

Ok, I could carry it on its own in a box, squatting carefully to standing position, as I did when I bought it, but it was like a weight lifting competition!! That is where the bike weight is. in the friggin' engine! Damn that engine was heavy. I'll never forget it. |
I agree that motor is damn heavy.
|
So even if you put is on a heavy diet it will never be a very light bike I guess. Could we also say that a heavy engine is likely a more reliable engine? I mean how far could an engine like this go considering that money is not a problem and you could change it internal parts if needed? Just another useless curiosity

We've had people knocking on 80'000+ miles and still going. Mine would have gone further if the thieves hadn't taken it from me. :089:
|
80k miles is more than enough for few trips around the globe. I had a bike stolen once but it was fortunately insured...damn thieves!

Its about 39kg I have been told.... Haven't removed my one yet, but the instruction are tip-top Kev.. |
Feels like a 100KGs when you pull it out by yourself.
|
Yeah, I know a song about that....
|
Thank you Kev :notworthy[1]:
I have used your guide to replace the engine what a great advice it was :woo:great thanks. Top man |

is it "doable" on your own Kev?..with a bit of common sense? or logistically a big no-no?
|
I done the job twice, first time with help, 2nd time on my own. I would say get someone to help you as this motor is very heavy.
|
ok ty....but i got it in and out of a car ok, but I suppose getting it out of a frame is just a little trickier.
I'll get a helper, ty. |
Hello
Does anyone know if its possible to remove the engine with the headers attached?? I cant get the bolts undone :( Thanks |
Thanks for sharing that Kev very useful and exactly what I need to take my motor out this weekend, will save me a lot of time I am sure.

Took my engine out with headers attached last night. It took a bit of twisting about to get them past the front of the frame and I had to remove the oil pipe from it. Also you need to remove the 2 bolts which attach the exhaust bracket to the frame but apart from that it's no different from Kevs guide (which was spot on by the way thanks kev).
