No, I know for sure they are replacing the water pump outlet housing, oil line pipe going from the cylinder head to crank case, banjo bolts and chrome lever just above the clutch where the clutch cable connects to. They did say they were doing some other items but I did not ask about them as there was not really anything else I was concerned over just the bits I have mentioned. When I get the work done I will ask then exactly what was completed.

What areas do you have issues over?

The oil pipe is corroding on mine too, appears to be where the clutch (I think?) cable is rubbing against it. Also a few nuts and bolts hear and there, might pop into the dealers next week and see what they say??

Im going to keep an eye on this subject as my bike is about the same mileage as Tony,s I have sprayed Scottoil FS365 ON after cleaning and I did not see any corrosion when I looked earlyer today!

Gents whilst its under warranty get everything you need done, thats what you bought a new bike for so you can enjoy the riding and let someone else do the main maintenance. Or at least that was why I did, and to ensure the bike I got had not been messed about with. I was lucky with my first XT is was totally standard.

I washed the bike today and did as the dealer said and sprayed maintenance spray on it, it does not look as good but if it helps then I will use it.

Some of the prices we were all charged for our first services are varying wildly especially Shaynes as his was done at the same place just a few months later.

Worth noting.

first service

my bike went in for it`s first service today cost me all of 24.16, at jt`s motorcycles swansea, well impressed

Finally got my 600 miles done, and had the service today. Was done at dealer it came from, The Bike Shop, Faversham. Costs as below.

Oil Filter............................................ ......................5.10
Mobil Super Oil 10w 40.............................................14 .17
Sundries (whatever that was, never bothered to ask)..... 1.50
20.77, +VAT....Grand total 24.40.

I was more than happy with that. Seemed pretty reasonable to me. They even offered me another bike while it was being done, but I never bothered as it was raining, and I am no fan of riding in the rain at the best of times.

Seems like you have a good dealer there both in terms of prices and the fact he offered the loan bike. Its good to hear.

LOL, Now I am using my bike daily due to not having a car anymore I am starting to see your way of thinking mate! I just really enjoy cleaning and in the crappy UK weather a nice clean bike does not last.

first service and warrety parts

:moon:My first service was at Bill Smiths motorcycles in Chester. The story is that the service cost 38.00 but because they only put 6 months tax on the bike instead of the promised 12 months, they called it quits. The only other problem I had was when I picked the bike up the clocks wer'nt working properly, couldnot get the speedo to read mph, stuck in kph. they agreed to do the work under warranty but it took yamaha 6 weeks to send a replacement. Is this the usual sort of lead time for warranty replacement bits ? or was this an exception. comments greatfully accepted.
