what you reackon

me and the mrs are thinking of heading to the highlands soon to do a bit of touring and camping,i have a few large tents that are too big and heavy,i seen this one its easy and very quick to put up small and light,my only worry is that it is too cheap, other than that it would do my job well i think, what do you reackon,is it a play tent???

Sorry - can't help there - a friend of mine has one and she carries it attached to her rucksack. She reckons that it's worth the hassle to carry when it's so simple to pitch and pack-up.

I think the first tent is too small, as even thou most say its a 2 man tent they are lying really, and they just about fits 1 with a set of shoes in. As for the foldy out one i think these look really good but can be hard to carry as you cant fold them anymore then the big rings.

I would look at internet sites and look for a 2-3 man dome tent with a small porch area. Thats what i have for camping with, and fits me (6ft4) and fits either my dad (6ft) comfortably, or bit a squeeze with both + some luggage in between us. The porch is very handy as it can hold some gear and other stuff but be careful as when really wet and windy the water can blow into the porch and wet stuff.

Something like these, are cheap, waterproof, good space inside, warm enough, good in wind etc etc. Only down side is it only packs into a long sausage shape which reduces where you can put it, normally across the back of the bike works for me, with 2 wee fold out chairs.

This one has a hh of 2000 and a smallish packed size but is a bit more to buy.

Stumac i think it all comes down to personal opinions, like what type of camping your doing, how much space you have, how much you wanna spend on a tent, if you and the mrs like to get alittle close in the tent:unibrow:. Going to scotland in summer is nice ive been there before but only stayed in B&B and we where lucky as we only got wet on the last day coming home (heat wave). But i think making sure you tent is water proof and you have warm enough sleeping bags and gear you's should be ok what ever tent you choose.

But if everything goes pear shaped you could just pitch the tent and then go and stay in a B&B and not tell anyone:eusa_shhh:

I went to the BMF rally years ago and was suprised to see the BMW owners pitching 2 tents each. One for themselves and one for the bike. They also made a rope fence around the tents to keep people away.

BMW riders are a strange species.

Have a look at these guys, some great gear and available off of ebay too.
I have the top A frame one, its absolutely tiny and you can just fit one person in it with a bag of gear, but nothing else.

I have always thought that there was tremendous scope of a motorcycle tent with no tent poles... will research it again.

Alternatively I strongly recommend Hammock tents, two for two people, they will give you the best nights sleep (if you learn how to sleep in a hammock)
