Overall I have to say its a nice piece of kit but I did notice one thing that really is poor compared to the earlier versions which is the headland plastic hardly covers the clocks and instrument panel. Other than that very nice. The deals was selling em at full whack with no discount (4899)!

The voices in my head tell me that you should have never sold yours :brain:

07 spec XTX Review

Well I must be a glutten for punishment as I am now onto my second XT660X. I decided to go for the laest spec version (2007) this time round as the new changes seem to be good. Riding with the latest ECU and TPS has almost eliminated all the surging felt on the mk1 version (although a PCIII and custom map sorts this out). It is now completely smooth or as smooth as a big single can be. The suspension seems very firm at the moment but this may improve as I put the miles on it.

Excellent riding position offering excellent views all round, comfortable seat although a little hard but wide enough to accomodate my rear!

As I have not ridden a bike for a few months one slight negative is it still only has 5 gears. As I am running in I am mindful of the excessive revs. The thing accelerates really quickly meaning you are soon out of gears. I dont really want to mess with the gearing as I would then need a speed healer to correct the speedo. I will live with this as I am really having to pick faults, dont let this put anyone off its still very good.

I have the stock Pirellis on at the moment and they seem ok, I love the Distanzias so the bench mark are those. I need to put more miles on before I can honestly comment on the stock tyres. The Pirellis look ok but I dont think the mileages on them are that great compared to the Avons.

Overall, looks good, goes well, handles well, brakes superb and well worth the investment.

I'm off now to put some miles on it.

someone said he broke a couple of sat nav devices on the XTX and that this bike vibrates.
my 2cents: the other bikes that vibrate even more, do not need a navigator. they cannot go too far to need a map :D
so, compared to the usual tourers it vibrates. compared to other 1cylinders. it is smooth! and I only have few km on it. I'll come back when I learn more.

How many speed cameras are there in Romania?

There are 6000 speed cameras in the UK. The sat nav can inform me where they are located. A paper map won't.

Good idea.

cbr-ica 24-01-08 14:02

so... you use satellite navigation to find out about speed cameras. didn't know. then... it makes sense.
still, the wr400 vibrates more. so does Husky610 and ktm Lc4
