XT New Blood

Hi all. I'm new here. Originate from South Africa now living in London for past 2,5yrs. Owned many bikes most off-road. Always wanted an XT500 but have now bought a 2011 XT660r. Find this type of bike suits my riding style.Bought her yesterday and was advised to take the long route home to avoid central London but as I am took the challenge. Arrived home after passing through major standstill traffic with a smile plastered to my stupid face that was still there when I went to bed. Going to put new tyres on her today and looking for an aftermarket exhaust to complete the sound.

Welcome. I have the same opinion as nikroc, so I fitted a set of blackwidow pipes, well made, much lighter, fitted easily and sound good.

Pipes and fuel mod are a great start.

Mods

Thanks guys. I have the BlackWidows already on the way and I will check out the Avon tyres tomorrow. Bought a strong chain and monster lock today and bike is covered in an all weather strong cover. I have a GPS tracker on I need to activate. Will definitely look into the mods. I was given a set of Talon moto rims as spare so thinking they would look good on there sometime.

Introduction

Greetings

I'm in sunny Yorkshire.
My good lady has offered to buy me a bike for my 60th. Not owned one since I got rid of my zx6r Ninja several years ago. I'm older and wiser now so I don't want something similar this time round. Looking to do a bit of touring. Quite a lot of motorway, almost unavoidable these days but want to get off road as well. Gravel tracks and a bit of rougher stuff.
Torn between an 800 (Tiger XCX or Beemer F800GS) and a thumper. The thumper I have in mind is an XT660Z Tenere. On here to try and get an idea of what she is like both on the road loaded up a bit with crap and also in the dirt.

regards

:welcome: to :660: though you should have started your own thread instead of introducing yourself on someone else's intro message. It's called leeching :D

You won't regret it mate they are are a great bike although it's hard to define exactly why but they just are .. might pay to drop that oil & filter straight away because you never know what the last bloke put in it .. and keep the changes regular if you can afford to, (only 3 litres with filter) ..
