Swingarm bearings
My swingarm is very squeaky so I guess I need to change the bearings.
I've found one of them as SKF HK2220 but cant find the lower one code (I dont want to to get them from Yam, they are 4-5 the price). Any idea on this? Would this kit be any good? |
Weemoto kit is generally pretty good quality so I dont see why not.
Have you considered taking the axle out and cleaning the bearings etc and re greasing as a first option? |
There is a great thread somewhere on the forum talking you through removing the swingarm and linkage and repacking it with a top quality marine grease. I did this one year into ownership of my 2014 Tenere and found the original bearings were poorly greased.....Steve

I think I found that thread once but I cant really remove the swingarm since I dont have any tools/nothing to keep it on.
At the moment it sounds really really bad so Im guessing one or all the bearings are gone (60k, I dont remember changing them). Is the wemoto kit everything I need? 2 upper bearing and 1 lower? Is there anything else I need? |

2 roller pin bearings 2 bushes 4 seals Or are you referring to the shock linkage bearings? |
I guess Im looking for the linkage parts, since I assume that is where this horrible noise is coming

At some point your not going to have any option but to remove the axle etc if your wanting to replace the bearings..

I,like others on here, wrote a big about it, including some parts numbers.

Thank you for the link man, amazing job. "6 inner tube" what is this one? Im looking through the parts list but cant nail it. Im putting everything on a list now to see if a kidney can cover all repairs :icon_cheers: |
http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...psmafgk8jh.jpg I bet it's the linkage. ...it's not a big job so worth taking apart , cleaning and greasing and see if that does the job! Might be a cheap fix. STEVE

https://www.ajsutton.co.uk/genuinepa...rear-arm?uID=0 The tubes on the bike I was building were all damaged due to dry bearings. Part numbers 7(X2),13,20,26 and 28 |
I see, thanks for the info. Judging by how squeaky mine are they tubes are probably shot to hell. Im looking for a place to get them but so far only Yamaha has them, damn.
|
I also tried a local engineering company, but they said due to the tubes chrome like exterior, almost like Nikasil plating, they couldn't do it.

Had the exact same noise on my Tenere. It was the rod in the centre of the suspension. I used graphite spray and it stopped. In the end I bought a new rear suspension unit.
As a quick test I'd spray wd40 on your suspension rod only and see if it goes. If it doesn't, then spray each of the 3 suspension link bolts separately and see which one it is that stops squeaking. It might highlight which bearing is too dry, but allow the oil chance to soak in. |
I cleaned the area as best as I could and used some wd. Squeaking stopped. It seems that the top left bearing is the issue. I'm trying to find the size of all the bearings so I can get them locally, and buy the inner tubes and the rest of the rubber stuff from Yamaha.

I got some offers from various shops but getting everything is around 250euros and thats insane.

I'm looking now at the wemoto kit. These are the top bearings, right? Part no. 2, 6 and 5? |
