off the road ecu reflashing vs power commander...
Hi ,
i'm interested in making a smoother working engine of my xtz. OTR do a reflash of the ecu. they claim to put a different ignition mapping in and different fuel map. did anyone ever get their ecu reflashed and what's the advantage over a PC (if any)? i did de-cat my original exhaust , snorkel out and pipercross airfilter. no interest in kev mods (with all due respect). thanks. |
A bit of info what I know about reflashing ECU's, I reflash around 100 motorcycles ECU's a year including all the latest 2018 motorcycles Yamaha Suzuki, Kawa & KTM's & been doing this for the past 7 years, I build all my own custom maps on the Dyno I have full access to all areas of the factory bin files.
On to your question a custom map built in the reflash is as good as the tuner skills, every tuner has their own recipe so there is no two custom flash maps the same in the world, every tuner can get that target AFR but what he does in the throttle, ignitions, Imap, TPS & map bios tables makes for a good map. You need to confirm the flash installed will suit your fuels in your country as the different fuel blends around the world play a big part in the AFR, you need to confirm has the AFR is suited for your pipe & mods installed, just pulling some ignition out of the tables may not suit all pipes I would be asking for a Dyno graph of the reflash with your pipe & mods installed. A PCV can correct the AFR in all areas of the Imap & TPS table if wired into the bike correctly, 99% of PCV installs only wire in the TPS inputs, to map the bike correctly you need both Imap & TPS fuel tables + you either need to flash the closed loop off or control the o2 sensor signal.. |
