Buying XT660Z '08 plate..what to look out for

Hello peeps, my first post, I'm looking at a 660Z on an 08 reg with 46,000 miles

Anything i should be looking out for

Also, i'm dropping down from XTZ 750 and TDM 850
( new ULEZ in London next year!! )

Am I gona feel the 660 is really under powered in comparison?

Any feedback much appreciated

Ian

Welcome. People are going to get cheesed off with me repeatedly mentioning; avoid engine numbers that are roughly between 6200 and 9500 as they have more than often been recorded on this site as those that suffer from catastrophic 3rd gear destruction, often writing off the engine and at best costing hundreds in renovation. I also speak from experience. It's been enough to warrant a big yard stick.

Good advice given by..

Unless the bike is ridiculously cheap, with loads of service history and new consumables like chain and sprockets and tyres then I would walk away and find something with less miles etc.

Whats your budget?..and are you willing to travel to collect?..

Am i right in thinking your buying new next year?.

Is it exclusively a Z you want?

Hi, yeah I'll check the engine number for sure, that is really good/bad to know lol
I'm looking to buy now (ish) as the my XTZ is poorly and TDM hopeless over the speed bumps in London on my daily commute
I'm after a Z cos I'm a Tenere fan for too many years
Budget about 2500 or so

Hi, yes, I did see that one, quite high mileage again though, maybe I'll ask for an engine number too :)

Here's a 2011 bike with plenty of farkles, lowish miles and only advertised a bit dearer than the 2009 bike.

That's really got to be your call based on the information within this site, and others, together with your value-for-money assessment and actual wish to own that particular bike.

yes i know, but that engine number seems to be out of the 3rd gear destroyer danger zone though?
