Loud bang in scorpion cans while shifting
Hello everyone
Since i bought the bike a couple of month back, this one came with dual scorpion cans, since the day 1 I notice a loud bang every time i'm shifting gears. I check all the unions of the pipe, and seal them with some holst paste, in some parts it was leaking a little. But the noise is still there. The weird thing is that is only while shifting and at 3-3.5k rpm, below and above that is not reproducible the bang. I checked the cans and doesn't look like maybe any crack on any of them. Anyone may have some information about what could be the route of this? is normal? i know of some bike that use to 'fart' but i don't know if the xt660z is one of them King Regards |

I searched a little about it and i think it could be the blocking of AIS system, is that correct? I couldn't found any tutorial for dummies, i found some pictures about the pipe i may need to block but not really sure yet. During the weekend i will try to look at it in the bike, i also saw the blacked kit from https://www.off-the-road.de/en/XT-66...it-XT-660.html But i don't want to risk it. Not yet at least until i tried with the cheaper solution |
if you join the forum you will have access to all the cures/modifications you will ever need...yes i was refering to the AIS system. FREE fix!!

Is the 'bang' your talking about a glorious shotgun sound....the trademark sound of the Scorpion system!!. It's considered one of the finest sounds ...especially when filtering through traffic! Enjoy.....!! Steve

In traffic after the bang, regularly I'm able to hear a small scream. Something that cheer me up a little, specially after a working day. :wasted:
