Fuel issues normal ?

Alrightm

It is hard to say my friends because some topics on this forum are sticky and very outdated or old but I drive a 2014 XT660 Z and It has a stock akrapovic on it. Now whenever I have to drive first gear and really slowly or when I have to start fro ma red light, my engine cuts off a lot !

It sucks cause it gets green and I have to drive off and also dangerous when I use the gas that it falls off.

I thought it where the akra's because I debolted the decibel killers. I re-attached them, yet still same issue. I read many times that XT's have fuel issues being fueled to poor. Now Anyone else have this issue too then the same way I assume ???

Also , When buying the KEV mod from this forum, I wonder , is it still up to date ? I want to buy it but since many topics on here are years old and KEV himself isn't an active XT owner anymore can anyone collaborate about that too ? :)

Kev is active on the forum on a regular basis, his advise is spot on and he still sells and supports his mod's.

Re your fuelling issue...could it be your idle speed is a little low?..all the info is here, use the search..hth.

Technical threads are, as nikroc says often started many years ago, but they are sticky for one very important reason: they are still very relevant today!

You've got to remember that very little changed on the XT from 2004 (2008 for the Z) to 2016. Just about everything discussed prior to 2014 will apply equally to your 2014 bike.

This is a common issue and simple to rectify. 99 times out of 100 it is down to the idle speed being set too low. Check it is north of 1400 rpm on a warm engine (I find 1450-1500 ideal). The XT motor does not (like all singles) care much for old, worn or incorrectly gapped spark plugs either. How 'fresh' is yours? Same applies to the air filter - how recently was it replaced/cleaned?

Kev doesn't own an XT anymore, but he is still VERY active! His mods (both of them) are bang up-to-date and have been continually updated over the years. Those listed currently (O2 Controller and Fuel Mod) are perfectly compatible with your 2014 Tenere. Buy them through the web site, ebay or Kev directly.

Idle speed right above the marker and when I don't gas up it keeps on going. when I use gas to start It cuts off .. So I assume the mixture isn't good enough., wanted to see if the current models still had the same issues as I didn't really find a straight answer in the search.

Idle speed is right above 1K with me so I will try putting that higher and see for results and both of you comment the same issue. Air filter is clean and spark has been replaced at 10k ish and now at 15k so should be fine too. if it persist I will get a new spark plug tough to try it out !

All the information your ever going to need is within the forum..if you search you will find what you need...remember tho adjust your idle speed when the engine is warm...

I am just about on this forum daily, all my mods the adjustable fuel mod an O2 controller are right up today's with the latest 660's.
