On this particular Sunday Mr McQueen
The main objective was to find somewhere suitable to pull up & use this...
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...387cfe8505.jpg And to get reacquainted with knobbly tyres. We have had an unbelievable amount of rain brought on by Cyclone Debbie that hit up the coast from here recently. A week later & Rockhampton (100k's north) is still flooded badly from all the run off that has come down. Today however the weather was perfect, a bit of cloud cover but no chance of rain. Lake Awonnga on the way to Ubobo.. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...038c2c2e8a.jpg The dirt starts at Ubobo heading through some nice cattle property's. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...73fecb6780.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...8ca45f1a96.jpg If I'd parked here last week from looking at the water marks the Tenere would be completely submerged... https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...30d05629d5.jpg Lucky I'm not in a 4WD... https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...b421853ae2.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...3ed0f29461.jpg The 606's earning their keep. I ran over a downed barb wire fence along here but no puncture's. Phew.... https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...6b0ede51d4.jpg Have a break... https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...573da0005e.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...2da0b850c4.jpg It only looks this green for a couple of months if your lucky... https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...b83c7e6cc9.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...451761c082.jpg Now the 606's have a few hundred k's on them they are starting to feel as though my rims aren't covered in jelly filled caterpillars. Some rides are just perfect. This was one of them. Roll on the next one ;-) https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...00b1673223.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...2802ca16fa.jpg |
Great pics Desert Racer! No doubt about Debbie, she was a bloody nuisance to a lot of people up there. Your country seems to dry out pretty fast, by the look of it.
Anyway mate, thanks for the photos. Good to see other members' countryside. |
Great pictures and write up, looks like a good run was had.

Great photos Desert Racer /Steve McQueen. .., and what a n excellent ride. Like you say, some rides are logged in the memory bank forever!. By the way, photo 11 has a hint of Ireland about it... ( I'm on a countdown! ). Seriously though, you do have great trails and stunning terrain over there. Steve

Thanks Fella's.
The greenery is a welcome relief, but care needs to taken on roads with long grass on the edge as the Roo's are a bit harder to spot. A friend of mine hit one at speed recently on a Gold Wing. Fortunately he stayed upright & only got a crack in the front mudguard from the impact. A split second reaction he decided to drop a gear & power through lightening the front wheel so the bike stayed in a straight line. Puckering moment. |
Lovely pictures!..Glad your liking those new tyres..
