Dominator 2-1
Does anyone have experience with these? I've not found much useful on the internet.
I was also thinking if the end can was rubbish I may be able to fit someone elses end can in it's place. Thoughts people please? |
No direct experience myself, but a lot of the feedback I've read/heard is of iffy quality and poorly aligned bends and brackets making fitting tricky without 'adjustment'. I guess you get what you pay for.
|
MTC will do the job for about 180 including the end can, bracket clamps and link pipe in stainless, but you have to take the bike to them
|
I'd be just as concerned about how much a 2/1 will changed the character of the engine I've put posts up before about such if you have an R and off-road/green lane then it maybe it's what you want but I put one on my X after being used to twin Akra's and a 2/1 wasn't for me.
|
I's love to get a MTC high level 2-1 but they are to far away from me and I can't really be without the bike as it's used daily, which is such a shame at that price.
Yes the intended use is for off road. It's a shame creptus seem to have vanished and I've heard nothing about the hazar systems to know if they're any good. Dominator are the only cheap ones left. Yeah I know you get what you pay for but getting a OTR system isn't far off what the bikes worth anyway. |
You can do it, I rode from Southampton, via Wales, airbnb overnight in North Wales. MTC done the job by 11am the next day and I rode home, all good fun and mostly B roads with 20 miles of motorway. Fitting the 2 to 1 allowed me to make and fit a tool tube where LHS tail pipe was, and saved 4kgs of weight. A fun and cheap way to do it.
|
Do you have any pictures of the 2-1 they made for you?
|
no I don't, I sold the bike in the summer. MTC had XT pictures on their website a while back

Cheers Carl, will be interesting to see how it fits as it's a nice cheap set of pipes.

Got it today. Looks good. Probably no time for mounting for next 2 weeks.
Seller said it will be 96dB with both dB-killers. Guess the plate with 4 holes fit in beginning of muffler? Or any ideas? |
Was too curious and went out to my non-heated garage and start demounting oem exhaust in 0 degree celsius.. New to this. Header is totally stucked in engine. Used some force but not enough. Want to take out original without damage. Any tip is welcome:)

looks, good.
What's the silver disc with 4 holes in it? Try come penetrating oil (not wd40) applied daily on all fixings for a few days then try again. I use 3 in 1 penetrating oil and that is fantastic at freeing seized nuts and bolts. |
Disc is a dB-killer that fits inside inlet of can. Think I try without.
|
That'll teach me to read the posts properly haha.
it does look like it would be very restrictive, so worth holding onto for MOT time. Depending on the design I would maybe look at modifying the other DB killer and leaving the disc out all together. |

Finally got old headers off. Tested new one and its fits nicely. Think I have to turn water hose so its bends a bit outwards. Replace brake oil tank is also necessary. Will soon start it up and hear the noice. A few garage pictures added.

looks a good fit. did they provide the spacers used on the end can mounts?
I think for the brake fluid take a look at how it's done on the metal mule system that may do the trick. Interesting problem with the rad hose, i'll be interested to see how you get round that one. p.s your bike is sooo much cleaner than mine |
Hi again, took me awile to do last work. Huzar fits very good. Is now with db killer in outlet, but not in beginning of can. A bit noisy now😄
